I really liked the Quigg article. I didn't know much about him and his personality and the article made me understand him a bit as a person. He came across as slightly eccentric but so, so determined and focused. I really respect people who have that character trait.... Because I don't and wish I did!

Fair play to him if it keeps him on track. If she isnt happy with the situation then i'm sure she could go get a meal and a pumpin from someone else.

I think that's sensible and I wish more sportsmen would do the same. Anyone reasonably famous will always have the risk of running into a bunch of cretins who want to cause some trouble & test themselves - the risk must be much higher for boxers. Absolutely no need for a professional boxer to put themselves into that sort of situation where they're surrounded by aggressively drunken idiots (other than fight night, of course ).

terry, as you admit yourself you aren't a trained journalist with the benefit of working full-time in the media and it shows. you're enthusiastic and clearly love boxing but, in my opinion, lack direction. good boxing writers like flexen, mcrae, houston, mcavenney, dixon, abrams etc have gravitas. flexen is coming into his own at the moment, he's taking chances, seeing and telling his truth and it shows.

you're a quotes man, led by talk with a top and tail. as a reader i expect more, i want your informed take, i want your access to lead to insight not just soundbite singalongs with some shite pun at the end (you did it again with selby this month and his fking cake!)

not a huge biggie, Boxing Monthly is a quality read this month. Skeete piece is great as is the Ajisafe article. Smoger one is the best one in there, Houston's injury one is close behind in my opinion. and that's all it is, just my opinion.

well, to slightly deviate from the topic title, Quigg was also in a piece in the most recent Boxing Monthly magazine (Terry Dooley) - it was said that Quigg was "expelled from school at the request of his parents" (but it was Quigg's decision).....Maybe the school just acquiesce in these matters. I knew a lad that was being educated at home by his Mum once - I thought it would be a stipulation that some form of education still went on at home though.

I like him anyway. I've not seen much of him or the other guy tbh, but people that say the Irishman would beat him I think might just be jumping the gun. Quigg always comes over as very confident when I've heard him.

I usually read articles without taking note of who was actually behind them, this thread may have changed that.
It is very unlikely that I will ever come on here and talk down anyone's work but will certainly take note of who's work i'm reading.
