My biggest complaint about boxing is that promoters, cornermen and associated others storm the ring at the end of the fight, meanwhile the doctor struggles to get to the fighter who's been knocked out cold and could end up in a coma.

The ring being swarmed by hundreds of people before and after a fight is one of the things I hate most with boxing. You dont even see the winners reaction sometimes as there are so many people about then BOOM.....all of a sudden he appears on some fat bas*ards* shoulders.

Referee, two fighters and ring announcer is enough.

If they want to talk to their trainer etc then stand in the corner, if the promoter wants in on the act for the interview then do it at the side of the ring and the same for everyone else.

Swarming the ring is like boxing's equivalent of when your local amateur football team are playing at home, half time whistle goes and all the young kids run on to hit shots into the nets. Difference is, its fat attention seeking grown ups who do it at boxing.

Fighters who get asked to name their toughest opponent who then name a tough journeyman who gave them a decent argument, rather than the guy who pasted them and left them staring into a doctors penlight from their spot on the canvas.

The doctors have got to get in there a bit quicker then in that case. I can't recall an incident of seeing a doc physically impeded in any way - besides which it's the folks with the oxygen that are needed quickest, I think.
But yes - as a general rule, I agree. It seems anyone and everyone with the gumption to jump in there can - and because nobody knows who they are, they don't get kicked out. Would it be enforceable and what you gonna do if a few over-exuberant pr*cks jump in the ring - void the result? I just don't see how you'd stop it really.
I remember clearly the cornerman of Steve Molitor jumping in the ring in Hartlepool whizzing his water bottle around in the squeezed position - it was only in a Borough Hall, he drenched half the room, the berk! Mind you his fighter had just gone trans-Atlantic and grabbed an IBF title.

It is an all too common thing too. Roberto Duran being a prime example.

A genuine dislike can be interesting but 99% of the time it's contrived and embarrassing to watch.

When a fighter is sparked clean out then it doesnt make it his hardest fight, in some cases I'd imagine that fighters have their toughest nights earlier in their careers or in fights where they need to find something they never knew they had. It wont take the same effort, determination and character to get knocked clean out in the 2nd or 3rd round as it does to grind out a 12 round points decision when things arent going their way.

Do you think Hattons toughest night was against Pacquiao? It was his biggest spanking of his career but I doubt he would say it was his toughest night in a boxing ring. Theres a difference.

Exactly, it's not needed. The Campbell Coyle fight is a recent example of needless fake beef.

The Campbell / Coyle 'beef' is a strange one really, as it's so obviously fake & doesn't add anything to the contest. It'll be a sellout regardless of the added hype, and there's no PPV to sell (thank fvck). I can only presume that Campbell has been told by his team to start all this aggressive nonsense, but it's so uncharacteristic it just looks a bit ridiculous.

Vacating titles to avoid a particular match-up which is going to be 'much bigger' when they eventually face off for a World title. Then it pans out neither win a title or the they fight when both past their peaks!!

Yep, good point. Lennox Lewis said after retiring that Klitschko was his toughest opponent and not McCall or Rahman. Which was fair enough.

And up to about two years ago Mayweather maintained that Emmanuel Burton/Augustus was his toughest opponent. I'm not quite sure about that, although I'd like to think it was his genuine belief.

Some of the best fights I have seen, have been between two guys who are 'friends'.

I just find it a bit insulting, that promoters/fighters think that fans will automatically believe it, and then buy into the fight.
