"Fielding Destroyed Vera. Dropped him early with an uppercut then brutally dropped him in the following round with a flush hook"
Shouldn't there be a giant disclaimer in the title instead of a misleading propaganda like endorsement of Fielding's performance?
Yes fielding dropped an off balance Vera in the first with a flash knockdown but that's no destruction. The fight ended in the second round after Fielding tossed Vera to the ground, hit him with an uppercut while Vera was on a knee and then when Vera went to protest to him with his hands down, Fielding hit him with a huge left hook. Yes, it is Vera's responsibility to protect himself at all times but that does not make any of it legal. Fielding knows darn well that the action stops when a man hits the canvass. This isn't 1920's prizefighting. I can't believe that entire sequence was treated as a non incident. Why hire an official if he isn't going to referee the match? And why did the announcers completely ignore a sham stoppage like that. I agree the fight should have been stopped, just not by tko for fielding. Yes I'm an American but this isn't sour grapes. The UK right now has some terrific prospects. They have done a great job building the sport over there these last few decades. There is more talent in the UK than the US right now and British boxing fans put us to shame here in the states where boxing is on the fringe. But I feel Vera got a raw deal by everyone involved in this match. I'm not saying Vera is in the same category as Fielding but he certainly didn't deserve that. I do not understand how any Brit can ignore the facts of this fight and celebrate it as an impressive, legitimate victory for Fielding.
Bit of a shambles really. The count already started before Fielding hit Vera with the hook. Could of been a DQ in my opinion. Could of been classed as hitting an opponent while he is down. Happened to RJJ.

Fair post. IJL messed up yet again. Most UK fans will admit that. Rocky did look sharp for the short duration of the fight though. Really not sure how far he can go but he seems to be improving. Training with Martin Murray will help and Oliver Harrison is an under-rated trainer IMO.
