As I said Heiland or Eubank jr would be decent opponents for a stay busy fight.
Lara could be added too but the fight should be @ c/w to be more legit. GGG would not get the credit he deserves if he beats Lara @ 160 lbs.

Yes he would. I would give him full credit for beating Lara at 160.apollo creed wrote:As I said Heiland or Eubank jr would be decent opponents for a stay busy fight.

Not GGG's fault. It is his promoers
in GGG's last fight GGG made 1.5 million
Willie monroe made 100 thousand
Geale made $600k
Rubio made $450k
Macklin made $300k
Stevens made $290k
Rosado made $150-200k

Aside from Monroe:
Martin Murray ??
Geale made $600k
Rubio made $450k
Macklin made $300k
Stevens made $290k
Rosado made $150-200k
I wonder what was the biggest fight purse/s that these guys received during their careers?

After expenses, management fees, and tax, those aren't big fees. Take away less than half of those figures.bogan whisperer wrote:Geale made somewhere in the order of $2million when he beat Mundine in their rematch.apollo creed wrote:Aside from Monroe:

Painful evening for Eubank Jr - he'd get ripped to pieces.apollo creed wrote:As I said Heiland or Eubank jr would be decent opponents for a stay busy fight.

Same thing would probably happen to Cotto/Canelo, Quillin, Lee and Lemieux but this is not the point. The point is GGG has to find the best available opponent to stay busy and imo Eubank Jr, Heiland and maybe Lara are decent.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Painful evening for Eubank Jr - he'd get ripped to pieces.apollo creed wrote:As I said Heiland or Eubank jr would be decent opponents for a stay busy fight.

what do you think ?
bradley & lara are 2 quality names. if ggg fought both and won, it boost his fame imense.
Bradley: Shopworn junior welterweight
Lara: junior middleweight runner
Muhammad Ali: light heavyweight
Mayweather: Super Featherweight coward
Pacquiao: One-handed light flyweight
De La Hoya: Spoiled transexual
George Foreman: Limited slugger
Mike Tyson: Midget who melts down if you stand up to him.
In other words, you're being an idiot, and your attempt at the excuse game is invalid.[/quote]
I'm being called an 'idiot' because I don't think Golovkin beating Lara, who only hardcore boxing fans give a s^&* about, and Bradley, whose prime was at 140 and who has already taken a career's worth of punishment, would garnish him to "stardom." OK, have fun in fantasyville.

Yes, true, he is in an unenviable position, and I guess the best thing he can do, is keep knocking them out, and calling people out, until the public starts to back him, and the interest in a big fight means he becomes a draw.apollo creed wrote:Same thing would probably happen to Cotto/Canelo, Quillin, Lee and Lemieux but this is not the point. Lara is quality, no doubt but some people would probably say: 'GGG ducked Ward and Kovalev
to fight a super welterweight'. ![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

sadly, GGG will be 40 y/o when the 'big names' would take him in consideration as a plausible opponent.

Unless he is such a draw that he can guarantee a big payday.
It's risk reward , at the moment risk is extremely high, reward is not, and therefore the only guys willing to take the risk, are those with little chance, and therefore little to lose.

If anyone at middleweight wants to make money or become a world champion they will have to man up and fight Triple G. The big money and glory will only come from going through Triple G or they have to vacate the division (ala Peter Quitting) and attempt to win a title there. No middleweight is going to make serious money without fighting and beating Triple G.
I can only imagine what Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and Duran are thinking about this current crop of chicken shit middleweights. The great middleweights of boxing must all be rolling in their graves at the cowardice on display.

Re: poor Gennady, his boxing situation is pretty messed up
We all understand that GGG is a highly risky fighter who brings less money but the WBC champion has to fight him @ 160 lbs since he's the middleweight champion. GGG's handlers have to imperatively exercise his No. 1 mandatory challanenger position to square off with Cotto/Canelo or whoever will have that title.
btw, did GGG step aside not to fight Cotto and what were the money and the demands ? Anybody knows more ?

Re: poor Gennady, his boxing situation is pretty messed up
I don't think any agreement on that has been reached. I suspect Cotto and Canelo will blackmail and/or bribe WBC so that they are allowed to fight for the MW title without paying anything to GGG and just agreeing to fight him next. ... and will later ignore their obligations to fight him.apollo creed wrote: btw, did GGG step aside not to fight Cotto and what were the money and the demands ? Trouble is, there's so many ways for people to avoid unification fights, mainly because the sanctioning bodies themselves don't like them.apollo creed wrote:We all understand that GGG is a highly risky fighter who brings less money but the WBC champion has to fight him @ 160 lbs since he's the middleweight champion. Ward still wants him, Dirrell called him out. All he has to do is move up and he will get fighters who will face him. The only thing messed up is that he wants to move down to try and feast on smaller fighters rather than move up and face bigger fighters.

Moving down is harder than going up, right? Besides he's happy to move up for a ppv fight, but the only 2 money guys above 160, Froch and Chavez, wanted nothing to do with him. Also questionable how bad Ward wants him, given he's the one with bigger purse demands yet never made an offer, not even now with his big money promoter. And apparently when HBO asked them if ready to fight, GGG said yes, Ward said noKBB wrote:apollo creed wrote:I can't believe that nobody notable don't want to fight him, except midget Bradley and runner Lara, who blatantly knows that his master won't ever allow him to fight GGG on HBO.

yeah, probably WBC will find a way to screw GGG's mandatory status. Probably they will make the winner of Cotto-Canelo (c/w kings)ikorolev wrote:I don't think any agreement on that has been reached.
