Cleverly won't beat Fonfara, and got destroyed by Kovalev, but that doesn't make him a chump.

The point is clear, if I had an ulterior motive then I wouldn't be saying outright that he is a chump, a person with an ulterior motive has something to hide. Before the respective JCC and Bellew fights id have said Clev would have probably outboxed Fonfara (even taking into consideration the Kovalev destruction) but it's not Fonfara who has shown lack of Will and basic lethargy, he did what he had to do and beat who was in front of him in Chavez, whereas Clev was terrible against an equally terrible opponent in Bellew. I question Nathans heart and ambition after that. I cannot see him beating Fonfara one bit even if it is at what I consider to be his best weight.

Pre-Kovalev Cleverly would have had a very good chance of beating someone on Fonfara's level. And Nathan might be able to beat Fonfara in a year or so, but it's too big a step up for him right now. He needs to fully regain his confidence (and as you said get used to the weight again) by having a couple of fights against lesser opponents before taking on a top 10 light heavyweight.

I don't want to be over-dramatic but Fonfara could really be on the verge of superstar status. He just keeps prodding along putting more and more fans in his back pocket as he goes. I'm a life long fan now after what he did to that punk JCCJR. He gave Adonis all that he could handle. While he acquires fans, he's also picking up confidence and big fight experience. Cleverly is not the same boxer since the Krusher walked through him but i think this will be an amusing fight for as long as it lasts.

Fonfara vs. Kovalev would be awesome because Fonfara is just crazy enough to not be intimidated.
