He obviously sees himself as Irish but I doubt he cares where his fans come from. He's a class act out the ring and seems to be in the form of his life. I fancy BJS to beat him handily on points though.

He is Irish. Born on a traveller site in England to Irish parents. Represented Ireland as an amateur, and most importantly considers himself Irish.

To be fair to Andy Lee hes pretty much always stated he's Irish.

He doesn't swap and change (or allow promoters to swap and change) depending on where he needs to sell tickets, like Macklin.

I am Pretty sure this might stem from another little pickle of a separate debate... so my answer ... andy lee is irish however when rating boxers I prefer to include British and Irish boxers

I know promoters sometimes refer to Macklin as being from Tipperary from time to time but that's just his father's country - he is Birmingham Irish mate and always has been. 100% Brummie and 100% Irish. :TU:

Really simple if he was born in England he's English if he's born in Ireland then he's Irish ...

Terribleterry with a terrible comparison. :D

Tony Cascarino qualified to play for Ireland through his adopted grandparent. Owen Hargreaves' dad was English, his biological dad. Slightly different.

Don't care about Andy Lee, his citizenship and identity are his business.

He's from The Isles. Who cares about political divides (I know, many do unfortunately )?

We're all brothers. Don't let others (politicians or religious leaders) tell you who to like or dislike.

Andy was short and stocky was a good fighter but at the time NOT as good as Ned, with that Repton style. Ned won loads of titles. How did your brother get on? Was he a lot shorter then Ned? Ned was Tall for the weight.

he got stopped with a nose bleed , cant recall what round maybe the last.

it was in Gloden gloves Daily star tourney in final i think as im sure Kev stopped irish boy in first fight , Kev is quite tall as well for weight but i remeber watching the video and Ned Lees legs were freakishly thin really boney and long. it was the height that was the problem.

mustve been about 20 years ago i watched that , i remember a euro tourney Kevin was in and he fought a Light welter weight russian and got beat 10-0 on points and they were claiming this guy as the new Kosta Tsyu and wouldve been intrested to see what became of him , something like Pabaluchecnko or something , lot of Chenkos in russian / ukraine though ha ha
