Re: Walsh v James off!!
Gutted I was looking forward to this fight and hopefully seeing Walsh FINALLY move up a level providing he won,I can't remember a fighter in this day and age holding a Commonwealth title for so long, he was ready to move up to LW about 2 year ago now he's still at domestic level at super feather
I hope he finds a replacement then moves on to European level,he's a class fighter who's been unlucky with inactivity

Re: Walsh v James off!!
Yeah fights off troy is gutted swapped a few messages with the boxingcutsman yesterday. Walsh is fighting at lightweight against a brazilen kid 24-2 15 ko's. Wbo intercon title. Winner gets a top 10 ranking and a possible fight with flannigan should they both win.
Re: Walsh v James off!!
Gutted for Walsh. It took me a while to take to him but he seems a decent guy and I really like watching him fight. He's head and shoulders above domestic level so maybe this is the wee push he needs to break onto the world stage. I reckon he's in danger of stagnating and not finding his best form unless he's stepped up this year. Very underrated fighter I feel. We could potentially have two new lightweight champions with Mathews holding an interim version and Walsh would give any of they guys big problems.
Re: Walsh v James off!!
Surely they could have found someone else to defend the title against instead of bringing in a knockover job at the wrong weight.maley1984 wrote:Yeah fights off troy is gutted swapped a few messages with the boxingcutsman yesterday. short notice against a quality kid and its a if the board approved a fighter for him to defend against. This fight gets him closer to a world title his opponent was due to fight this today so sud b fit.expe wrote:Surely they could have found someone else to defend the title against instead of bringing in a knockover job at the wrong weight.maley1984 wrote:Yeah fights off troy is gutted swapped a few messages with the boxingcutsman yesterday. Re: Walsh v James off!!
Jon Kays was already on the undercard, would have made sense for him to step in then fight James in a couple of months and get the belt outright. Walsh is already ranked top 5 with the WBO so he doesn't need to be chasing rankings or moving up and down in weight again.maley1984 wrote:short notice against a quality kid and its a if the board approved a fighter for him to defend against. Re: Walsh v James off!!
Real shame for troy, i heard he did something to his back throwing a shot. Hope he doesn't lose his shot at the title and gets a go when he is fit
Re: Walsh v James off!!
Depends how long he's out for, if he's not going to be fit by the end of October then the board should put another challenger forward, probably Martin J Ward since he won an eliminator.freddydoesdallas wrote:Real shame for troy, i heard he did something to his back throwing a shot. Walsh already beat kays convincingly so he wudnt want to go over old ground again. I do agree in the changes of weight tho. Walsh must b tight at making super feather makes me think lightweight is where his future lies

Re: Walsh v James off!!
Forgot he'd already beaten Kays, could have gone for Buckland or Simpson though, if either was close enough to the weight they would probably take it. Seemed to me that the plan was to get the belt outright then move on, otherwise there was no point in fighting James in the first place, so if they stick with that then he'll be held up into next year. He's big at the weight but he's made it ok for the last couple of fights so I don't see the point in going back up unless he physically can't get down to 9st 4, which doesn't seem to be the case.

It is ludicrous he's still defending that belt after 5 years.handsofstone wrote:Gutted I was looking forward to this fight and hopefully seeing Walsh FINALLY move up a level providing he won,I can't remember a fighter in this day and age holding a Commonwealth title for so long, he was ready to move up to LW about 2 year ago now he's still at domestic level at super feather

Re: Walsh v James off!!
I've heard he should be ready by then. My worry is that bigger promoters might use their weight to displace him. Troy is good and I'm sure he's the type of fighter miatchroom or w@rren fighters wouldn't want to face unless absolutely necessary. I'm sure the actual fighters would, more the promoters not wanting the riskexpe wrote:Depends how long he's out for, if he's not going to be fit by the end of October then the board should put another challenger forward, probably Martin J Ward since he won an eliminator.freddydoesdallas wrote:Real shame for troy, i heard he did something to his back throwing a shot. I don't think Warren will be worried about Walsh fighting him, he's a good fighter but he's the sort of opponent that Liam should be beating with relative ease at this stage of his career if he's going to move onto a higher level as expected. If Walsh vacated and it came down to him fighting someone like Martin J Ward as mentioned then it might be more likely that they look to avoid him.freddydoesdallas wrote:I've heard he should be ready by then. I agree about Walsh. It's definitely more about if he vacates and the big promoters use their sway to get one of their guys an easier touch

Walsh beats Rocky Martinez Now IMO

Re: Walsh v James off!!
Troy is Mandatory, no one else can fight for the titles, and rightly so, he has earned his position. Troy will fight for the titles next no matter what any big promoters try and do, just has soon as he is better. If Walsh Vacates then the likelihood is it would be Troy Vs someone like Kays or Buckland for vacate titles.
Re: Walsh v James off!!
Hey mate I hope you are right, if Kay's gets another crack at it then something is up as he's been stopped in 3 title fights, Gary buckland can't make weight so would imagine it be Martin j ward of vacated, Troy beats him for me and A lot more of a chance against him as for me as much as I want Troy to do the business Walsh is beyond British level and for me is a world champion on waiting at super feather, from looking kinda stacked the weight has went quiet with a lot of inactivity and fighters going in different routes, I hope Troy recovers quick and another date is set, he's not had the best of luck

Great stuff
Re: Walsh v James off!!
Just seen this got to feel for Walsh also he probably has the most call offs out of most boxers. If Walsh is looking at the World title then he should vacate. The Roman Martinez fight would be idea. Liam's style is good for beating him. Martinez is very robotic and Walsh is a nice tidy boxer who can dig in. I can see this title being between Mitchell Smith and Troy James (Battle of the Midgets) ha just messing Dean. Hopefully something can get sorted. Hope Troy recovers well and Liam does the business

What's was the 3 title fights been stopped in?JamieM wrote:Hey mate I hope you are right, if Kay's gets another crack at it then something is up as he's been stopped in 3 title fights, Gary buckland can't make weight so would imagine it be Martin j ward of vacated, Troy beats him for me and A lot more of a chance against him as for me as much as I want Troy to do the business Walsh is beyond British level and for me is a world champion on waiting at super feather, from looking kinda stacked the weight has went quiet with a lot of inactivity and fighters going in different routes, I hope Troy recovers quick and another date is set, he's not had the best of luck

To answer the question hes not, hes been stopped by Sykes and Walsh in title fights and also outpointed by Sykes on another occasion. Still think JamieM's point stands to be fair.
Re: Walsh v James off!!
If walsh vacates its gunna b between troy and one of the following imo
martin j ward already won a eliminator
Andy townsend english champ sud b beat glover in sept
Mitchell smith former english champ tho rumours he cud drop to feather
Gary buckland sud he b able to do the weight
Kays former english champ and british contender.
Dont think ive missed anyone. ..
