Good fight, wouldn't mind seeing either of them in the ring with Brook. Real crossroads fight for both men.

This is certainly good enough for an eliminator. Both fighters might be top 15 welterweights. The winner will rise to somewhere in the top 10. The winner would then be Kell Brook's second best opponent after Shawn Porter, ahead of Brandon Rios, provided that that fight goes down.

Good fight though I don't see how both guys can get an eliminator coming off a loss but still a good match up,I expect Chaves to be too rough and ready for Alexander's liking and outwork him ,in saying that Devon has had success against Maidana and Matthysse but I doubt they 2 are anywhere near as dirty as Diego, certainly not Lucas anyway but Alexander did struggle with Bradley's rough house tactics

Chavez is one tough hombre. I thought that he won the Bradley fight and thought he was on his way to beating Rios pretty handedly. The fact that Thurman actually knocked this guy out didn't appear close to as impressive as it really was at the time.
Alexander is one fighter that doesn't seem to have the heart at this level. He's had the skills but lacks that attitude it takes to win these big fights. After his fight with Khan, it appeared that he was just happy to be done with the fight and couldn't care less about the fact that he barely won a round if any.
Chavez wins this battle and i doubt it's that great of a fight. Alexander won't engage and will be intimidated by Chavez's rough tactics. This one is a snoozer, but i'll watch.

The matchup itself isn't bad, I just don't see how it's an eliminator. Alexander has lost two out of his last 3 fights wide. Chaves should have lost 3 out of his last 4 if the Bradley fight was scored correctly. 147 is a pretty deep division for either of these two to be in an eliminator, IMO.

That's pretty strange considering that Khan is the IBF no 1 contender and Bradley is the IBF no 2 contender...psychod1986 wrote:Devon Alexander vs Diego Gabriel Chaves IBF Eliminator fight for Kell Brooks Title
:??
But I would tend to agree with Mr Armageto when he said:
It's a pretty decent fight, both guys stars seem to be dimming... You have to wonder if their best days are behind them.armageto wrote:The matchup itself isn't bad, I just don't see how it's an eliminator.
