Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Lomachenko has the impressive amateur record and now a strap in the pros.
Selby has looked somewhat impressive lately and maybe its close to the time these two fought.
I don't think its any kind of mismatch and seems even up boxing wise.

Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Give it 4 rounds and lomachenko will be hitting him at will I personally think
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Loma will completely outclass Selby.
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Lomachenko doesn't look for openings, he creates them with his movement, absolute superstar and still only getting used to the pros
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
It's a bad style match up for Selby in my view. Lomachencko isn't getting outboxed by anyone. if/ when he will/has lost, it's because of getting roughed up and pressure.

Im not even sure Selby is better than Russell
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
why not they go on about lomachenko, tell you what i would fancy selby, there is something about him ,a real nasty hard thing about him enjoys fighting. i dont see that with lomachenko boxes machine like, just does it because he can no joy there
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
I struggle to see past Loma in this one, he is technically superb and would be a tad to good for Selby.
But I don't see anyone hitting him at will or completely outclassing him. Selby has looked very good since stepping up in levels and has a style that I think would be very hard to look good against.
I think the only way you beat him convincingly is to land a bomb (which loma doesn't possess) and even then you have to land that bomb on a very awkward opponent.
Lomachenko to win a fairly tight decision and probably not in a fight of the year contender

Very uneven in my opinion even with lack of pro experience Lomachenko way too good for Selby who would be lucky to hear the final bell ![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Lomachenko had 2-3 chances to finish Russell off and couldn't do so.Naandrew wrote:Selby is a good fighter but I agree with this.world ranked wrote:Im not even sure Selby is better than Russell
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
It proves he hasn't got any power, he's done it in a number of fights.
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Nonsense...he's hurt every opponent he's faced and power isn't the key to victory for him anyway. Even then he's stopped a greater percentage of his opponents than Selby has.
Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
Selby wouldn't beat Gary Russell, let alone Lomo.

Selby is a very good fighter, so presently I'll give selby the win in a,close decision, however in a years time or longer for lom to settle then its lom by decision..

Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
I've raved about Lee Selby for years. He took Stephen Smith's soul the night they fought. He went on to win a World Title by making Evgeny Gradovich look ordinary at best.
However, Vasyl Lomachenko is going to be a Superstar. He is naturally gifted. He has talents that few ever got near to.
Selby is a top Fighter. Lomachenko is so much more. A special Boxer we are lucky to have in the Sport.
Lomachenko would play with Selby and that simply shows how special Vasyl is.

There was a very good documentary aired in the UK this week about Selby. Really likeable guy.

Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
To be fair the featherweight division is turning into a quality one.
Lomachenko has incredible ability. The only negative I've seen is that Salido (I know he was way overweight), was able to rough him up and man handle him.
Gary Russell Jr has incredible handspeed and seems to be improving at a rapid rate. His Gonzalez performance was very impressive.
Selby has very slick skills but personally I'd like to see him given time to grow as a champion. Matchroom are heading him towards a fight with Warrington early next year.
Also Santa-Cruz is fighting Abner Mares which will be a cracker and a huge fight for LA.
Nicholas Walters could potentially come back down and Cuellar looks a tough nut to crack who could easily upset a big name.
There's a lot of big names, a lot of potential big fights, but for me. Lomachenko is the cream of the crop. Only age could stop him being P4P contender.
Selby and Russell great potential but have a lot to prove.

Lom is without doubt the class act of the div however he still getting to know the pro game where as selby is more rooted in the pros... that is why presently if they fought I'd give selby by a very close decision... however once lom is bedded down he'll be a superstar... for me lom pro fights haven't been handle very well since leaving the a glittering amateure career ... which we all are aware the amateur game is a different game ... take Frankie Gavin who was electric in the amateurs but didn't reach the potential... selby isn't far off his.. but lom still has plenty of room to fulfill his potential...world ranked wrote:

You really don't like uk fighters... Russell has got fast hands but lacks movement when coming in so much so he looks like he has no neck with the lack of movement with his head .. Russel would struggle against gradovich let alone selby..

Re: Is Lee Selby v Vasyl Lomachenko an evenly matched fight
If we made a poll right now more people would favorited Russell over Selby. Its not UK hate I think Selby is good but not Lomo level and I dont think Selby beats Gonzales the way Russell did and Russell is a better fighter.ajwesty13 wrote:diddy wrote:Selby wouldn't beat Gary Russell, let alone Lomo.
