Big Mick must have gotten Fury one hell of a deal to beat what would have probably ended up being about $4mil (£2.5mil) and having it in a stadium in the UK!

Not necessarily. It could have been take it or leave it from Wlad as Fury wouldn't make anywhere near as much against anyone else.
There would be no 'take it or leave it' with this one, given that it's a mandatory defence. Hennessey either agrees a deal that they see as very attractive to Fury or they let it go to purse bids - and in this case, their share of an $18 m bid (although we don't know for sure that they knew that bid was being tabled). Simply in terms of a purse, it's a win-win.
Of course there could be a take it or leave it bid. We're not just talking about any old fighter defending an alphabet title. If Wlad was to vacate the belt and let Fury fight for it against another fighter, he would not be the legitimate champion and he would make a hell of a lot less money. He would also be chasing Wlad again afterwards for a fight on a non-mandated basis. Wlad gets to dictate even more at that stage.

Whether Wlad would actually go through with vacating is another story but the threat is always there and if you have an offer of £1m fighting Wlad for the recognised heavyweight championship of the world or fighting A N Other for £300-500k (max) for an alphabet title, what do you think most fighters would do.

It's not necessarily right what Wlad is doing but he has all the power. Fury is just another contender in their eyes, mandated or not.

True... but it would have been nice to have it in the UK, and if Hrunov would have won the purse bid it looks like it would have been!

Why wouldn't he be the legitimate champion? If Wlad chose not to fight him and Fury won a vacant title that isn't his fault. If anything Wlad wouldn't be the legitimate champion anymore if he refused to fight a mandatory.

Wlad would have a lot less control over a unification than a mandatory, no purse bids, no 80-20 split and everything would have to be agreed in the deal, or no fight.

If they've accepted £1m for the fight then Tyson's been fucked out of a lot of money by K2 and Mick Hennessey.

Matchroom were bidding $9m, K2 and Sauerland were both there, but Vlad Hryunov was all set to win with $18m, working in partnership with allegedly. Then at the last minute K2 and Mick Hennessey made a deal for K2 to promote the fight. Hryunov is now protesting to the WBA, alleging that the deal was made after the purse bids were due to start.

Is Tim Bradley or Kell Brook THE welterweight champion? We're forever blasting paper champions on here and that's exactly what Fury would be.

Another angle for Wlad would be to say they would go off and fight Wilder for his brothers belt and exposure in the US.

I'm not saying that the fight would necessarily be a unification either. If Wlad gave up the belts for financial reasons, Fury would want to fight him to make his claim to be no1 in the division legitimate (i'm sure he'd also chase Wilder). Wlad has the control in that situation.

Who knows exactly what they've accepted but to say that Fury must be getting a great deal is naive. They are in it for themselves and know they power they hold. They are clever fellas and seem financially astute. Why give something away when you can manipulate it so that you don't have to.

No, but Mayweather hasn't refused to fight either of them. How would he be a paper champion if the so called champion refused to fight him? If Wlad backed out of fighting Fury he wouldn't be Heavyweight champion anymore, just back to being another titleholder.

Wilder's team won't let him anywhere near Wlad, they know how that goes, they went after the WBC belt so they didn't have to fight him.

Wlad would still have the IBF title, Fury would have WBA and WBO, if they fight that's a unification.

So if Wlad fought Wilder instead of Fury and then Fury fought for the vacant titles you would still say that Fury is a legitimate champion?

These are all threats that K2 could make during the negotiations with Fury. It doesn't matter if they may never have materialised, Fury would have to make a decision whether to risk it all or take what's on the table. All fairly basic and it happens a lot in all walks of life.

Yes, if the champion doesn't fight you and you win the vacant title, that fighter is a legitimate champion.

So Fury is the legitimate heavyweight champion of the world because the 2 current champions face off?

They won't fight each other and if Wlad sidestepped him then he would have just as much right to call himself champion as the other two.

In better news for Warren he appears to have kept hold of Chris Eubank Jr, show planned for Brighton in September, Lloyd Ellett on the undercard.

Whether they would or not is irrelevant in the negotiations though. This is all hypothetical as we don't know what the outcomes of the negotiations are but it's not out of the question to say that Wlad wouldn't want to pay Fury more than he absolutely had to. To do this he could suggest to Fury a deal outside of the purse bids based on his terms otherwise he will look to make a deal with the WBC champion and in doing this it will reduce the earning potential of Fury and his validity as a champion.

I'm not saying that it's right, i'm saying that it may have been an option for K2 to use as a negotiating tactic.

Hennessy 'apparently' had $14 million to bid with.

Warren was 'apparently' working with Hrunov and therefore had $18 million to bid with, and Hrunov is now appealing the decision arguing that the purse bids had already started.

Matchroom 'apparently' had a $9 million bid ready.

My interpretation is that several mistakes were made from several different parties:
-Hennessy has lost his man potential home advantage in a massive stadium fight
-Hrunov showed his cards too early which scared K2 and Hennessy into making a deal
-Warren has potentially lost out on BN having the TV deal with the way it has planned out

In Wlad's case he would still be the legitimate lineal heavyweight champion.
Fury would only be fighting for the vacant WBO/WBA alphabet titles.

He wouldn't be if he didn't fight his mandatory, can't duck the number 1 contender then still claim to be champion.
