flannigan vs zepeda
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
I guess they know the rules better than me. Bit of a shame for Flannigan to be honest, he was looking quite good, cack way to win the title. Hopefully he gets a good 1st defence so he can show his stuff and not some sh1t domestic level punter who miraculously makes it into the WBO top 15.....
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Terrible way to lose a title, terrible loss to have on your record.
Congratulations to Flanagan, He may feel like a world champion just now but when he looks back on it tomorrow I think he will realise that its not the ideal way to win and give the guy a rematch.

Not quite a shoulder dislocation but Hopkins vs Dawson 1. Technical draw.reggaereggae wrote: Zepeda injured himself then chose not to carry on. I've seen dislocated shoulders before but not one going to a technical decision/draw. Looked as if they both missed and Flanagan punched Zepeda's shoulder.

I'm sure we won't hear the last of this...stujones wrote:Not quite a shoulder dislocation but Hopkins vs Dawson 1. Terry looked good, he was sharp and not overawed.

That was a throwdown wasn't it?stujones wrote:Not quite a shoulder dislocation but Hopkins vs Dawson 1. Technical draw.reggaereggae wrote: Zepeda injured himself then chose not to carry on. This wasn't an accidental foul, more...an accidental injury
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Horrible to see, different members of his team just trying to yank his shoulder back in to place :( the poor lad was in serious painkcharles520 wrote:The nastiest part was how Zepedes corner tried jamming that thing back into place inbetween rounds. Sick! I mean that was a nasty, nasty looking dislocate with bone popping out and stuff...can't believe they even attempted to do that lol.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
How can they distinguish between an accident and Zepeda injuring himself???
One time I fell over an injured MYSELF, and guess what... it was an ACCIDENT!!! So you can injure yourself and still have it be an accident!
Saying that, to me it looked like Terry caught him with a legal shot which dislocated his shoulder, so a legit win for Terry IMHO!

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Dawson bodyslammed Hopkins and the shoulder went, nothing like this one, wasn't caused intentionally but there was nothing accidental about that bodyslam.Boxing Prospect wrote:That was a throwdown wasn't it?stujones wrote:Not quite a shoulder dislocation but Hopkins vs Dawson 1. Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Thought the same, shite for Zepeda but as the rules go Flanagan won, especially if he did land a punch on the shoulder, which while it might not be a proper scoring punch, isn't a foul either and it's perfectly legitimate to hit Zepeda there, whether deliberate or not.PokerRob wrote:How can they distinguish between an accident and Zepeda injuring himself???

I guess with the rules though they must have felt they didn't have much choice.Shambles wrote:Horrible to see, different members of his team just trying to yank his shoulder back in to place :( the poor lad was in serious painkcharles520 wrote:The nastiest part was how Zepedes corner tried jamming that thing back into place inbetween rounds. Surely they've got to review that rule.
An accident head clash - no issue - TD or goes to points.
A body slam - gets called a TD.
This though - he injured himself so stoppage? If McDonnel said the punched cause the injury then fine but he didn't he said Zepeda injured himself.
Surely they've got to say any injury that was not done via a punch needs the same ruling as a head clash.

"Stalker has stopped 10 out of 11".....seriously....Rawling does on occasion give the impression of a man staring at the ring card girls instead of thinking about what is coming out of his mouth...

These type of injuries always seem to go down as corner retirement or doc stopping it. Never seen one going to TD.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Looking quite organised compared to some of his previous outings and shown some lovely moves. Just no power at all. Carus is giving it a good go too.danal2 wrote:best Ive seen Stalker box as a pro

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
I feel for Zepeda, its never good to go out like that more so in a world title fight, its just one of those things,a freak,I noticed his left shoulder right before it was mentioned as I thought he was carrying it awkward, he looked in agony afterwards, both physically and mentally,I hope he comes again
I'm delighted for Flanagan though and hope he still takes positives from the 2 rounds,he boxed very well, didn't look overawed and never stood off much and was even trading with Zepeda in spots,it was close and was definitely hitting up to be a great fight
Unfortunate ending for both men but the main thing is Terry Flanagan is WBO Lightweight champ, the best way to move on is successfully defend the belt and hopefully Zepeda can get a rematch
Walsh was flat for 4 rounds until he switched lefty and got a great finish,Butler fight was stopped early IMO,no doubt Molina was hurt but its getting to the point in this country where fights are getting stopped as soon as an away fighter is in trouble,if the shoe was on the other foot,no way Paul gets stopped, Catterall fight was ugly as sin to watch but he still came through with the KO, i like a firm ref and especially one who doesnt do the home fighter favours but Calfin should've been DQ'd earlier for holding and TBH the eye injury probably shouldve been enough to halt a fight he had no chance or intention of winning

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
really disappointing end to the fight, surprised flanagan went wild celebrating like that, he just won a vacant belt when the other geezer dislocated his own shoulder. showed a lack of class for me when zapeda was in serious pain.

Yeah, how dare he celebrate a world title win he's waited all his life for shocking! how can this be allowed.

No, I agree it was embarrassing, how can he take any pride in 'winning' like that?Rexob wrote:Yeah, how dare he celebrate a world title win he's waited all his life for shocking! how can this be allowed.veriton wrote:really disappointing end to the fight, surprised flanagan went wild celebrating like that, he just won a vacant belt when the other geezer dislocated his own shoulder. showed a lack of class for me when zapeda was in serious pain.
He can't regard himself as 'champion' until he gives Zepeda a return and beats him legitimately.
