Wlad's 6'5", but I don't think Fury's the full 6'9". I reckon he's more of a solid 6'7".
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
He was listed at 6'7" when he turned pro, then 6'8", then 6'9". He's obviously very tall but I think his height may be exaggerated a bit, and there is very little between him and Ustinov/Wilder in their pictures together, though admittedly I couldn't see footwear. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyson is really something like 6'7.5" rather than 6'9", though I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.Grilling Machine wrote:Wlad's 6'5", but I don't think Fury's the full 6'9". Here he is standing on his toes for some reason while Wlad leans over and gives up some height. Have them plant their feet and stand in the same position and there'd probably be 2 inches or so between them in my opinion.

Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
I was just thinking whilst catching up on last night's card - does anyone actually believe that Fury's camp think he can win against Wlad? Because his opposition so far tells me otherwise.
If Fury's camp believed he would ever be ready to beat Wlad, surely they would have put him in with someone of a similar size by now as a way of preparation - Wach / Ustinov / Price would all be decent tests and set him in good stead for the Klitschko fight. But instead they've consistently matched Fury with small, light-hitting guys.
I personally don't believe that Fury's camp have any illusions about the gulf in class between Tyson & Wlad. They've done their job and manoeuvred him to a mandatory shot which will earn him a load of money, but he's going to get smashed.

Yes, Fury has made a habit of fighting fairly small opponents without much power. Who is his best opponent over 6'3" and who is the biggest hitter he's faced?
I'll be interested in seeing how cute his boxing skills are when he's Wlad and not facing a 6'1" or 6'2" plodder without a dig. They didn't look so hot when his undersized opponent Cunningham had some notable speed and skill.

Fury will pay the price for his lack of an athletic lifestyle, sporadic fighting and handpicked opponents. The defeat will be crushing enough that he imagine he will take his money and never fight again. Once there is no value in protecting him and he starts entering into fights against live hungry opponents he's a string of LKOs waiting to happen, and I can't see that appealing to his vanity.

Sounds about spot-on to me.crusader wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if Tyson is really something like 6'7.5" rather than 6'9"
I don't think it does! Maybe for marketing, but not for boxing.though I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.

It's hard to stay active when you train for months and your opponent pulls out, twice.Tuan_Jim wrote:Fury will pay the price for his lack of an athletic lifestyle, sporadic fighting and handpicked opponents. That is true, Fury was royally messed around by Haye.mickey1975 wrote:It's hard to stay active when you train for months and your opponent pulls out, twice.Tuan_Jim wrote:Fury will pay the price for his lack of an athletic lifestyle, sporadic fighting and handpicked opponents. Tyson Chandler (basketball player) is a legit/measured at draft 2.16m or 7'1", does he have 4"+ on Fury?Grilling Machine wrote:Sounds about spot-on to me.crusader wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if Tyson is really something like 6'7.5" rather than 6'9"

Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
Based on that picture I think he would have at least that if he weren't leaning over, and even in that picture the top of Fury's forehead only reaches his eyes.
Chandler's draft measurement w/o shoes was 6'11.5" by the way and NBA listed heights are regularly exaggerated.

When was that photo taken,Fury looks in good shape there.
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
Shortly before the Cunningham fight, so he was around about 18 stone.

Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
chandlers right shoulder is about the height of furys nose so he's definitely got at least 4 inches on him.
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
I agree....and he's 6'11.5" so I doubt that Tyson is actually his listed height of 6'9".

Fury would be at least 7ft tall if he had a normal sized head.

He reminds of this the pin headed tw*t

Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
FFS, is there anyone of any note who actually matches their billed height?
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
I think many probably do, though it seems common for boxers (athletes in general I guess) to give themselves an extra inch.
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
He was very ypung when he turned pro.crusader wrote:

I'm guessing he was still growing
Re: How will Fury deal with the loss?
Maybe, but I doubt it given that he was already in his twenties.
