Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
Sounds like Mundine vs Demetrius Andrade for Andrade's WBO junior middleweight title is close to a done deal. Melbourne is the favoured venue and early October the date being mentioned.

I would watch this fight. Wont get my hopes up until it actually happens though. Mundine fights have don't exactly have a great track record for actually happening.

Same. I hear it's because Mundine wouldn't agree to options on his next fight if he wins. Daniel Dawson next up I reckon then Mundine- Geale 3 or pig out at Macca's and make Mundine-Green2Like a Boss wrote:I'm hearing negiations with Andrade have at best stalled. No chance they can justify fighting Daniel Dawson. Mundine still holds some trinket title and he isn't going to defend it against Dawson.DA GOOSE wrote:Same. Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
Mundine says he's given up on Mayweather, Trout and Andrade:
Anthony Mundine remains in limbo after the collapse of his proposed fight with Austin Trout and says he has now given up any hope of landing a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The 40 year-old has been patiently waiting a big fight call since a clash with Trout fell apart on two occasions and wants to secure one of the bigger names at super welterweight sooner rather than later.
‘The Man’ currently holds the WBC silver title, which should give him the opportunity to fight for the full title should Mayweather vacate anytime soon after explaining to WBN that any future fight with Trout is now dead in the water.
“I doubt Floyd will get in touch and I’m not sure who he will fight, but it will probably be someone smaller then him,” Mundine exclusively told World Boxing News.
“It’s a waiting game as I believe I'll become full champ if he vacates. Does the silver champ get elevated? – I’m not sure, but I just want to fight big names. Maidana or Bradley sounds great and yes I would fight them or anybody.
“I just don't want promoters to have options on me like with Austin Trout. I want a fight by fight deal meaning I'm a free agent every time I fight. Just like the recent Andrade offer, they wanted three options if I'd won and the money wasn’t very good.

Mundine continues with his usual namedropping routine, but if he refuses any options being placed on him he is just pissing into the wind regarding big international fights.

Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
Sounds like Mundine is hoping Mayweather vacates then the WBC will elevate him to champion status so he can have a belt without actually fighting anyone for it.
I'm skeptical about everybody wanting too many options on Mundine and if it is true it clearly means the Mundine drawing power and paydays his opponents receive are nothing close to what some people claim.
If Mundine opponents made such great paydays promoters would more agreeable to giving up future options.
Realistically, Mayweather was never a possibility anyway.
Same goes for Cotto and Canelo their path is to each other. Regardless of who wins or loses that fight their path afterward is not going to lead to a 40-something opponent who has never been on American premium networks.
Anthony is doing a good job of turning down fights with any other top junior middleweights.
In just the last few weeks he has bailed on Trout and Andrade.
Wasn't a fight with Cornelius Bundrage also a possibility not too long ago?
imo that would be a great opportunity for both fighters but if it's not a possibility so be it.

Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
The WBC won't make him champion, he's ranked 4, Alvarez is first in line but he's fighting Cotto, so Charlo and Martirosyan would fight each other for the vacant title. Mundine isn't actually mandatory to Mayweather, not sure where he's got that from.Perseus wrote:Sounds like Mundine is hoping Mayweather vacates then the WBC will elevate him to champion status so he can have a belt without actually fighting anyone for it.

Mundine is copping a huge spray for letting the Andrade fight go. Andrade and his team claim Mundine accepted all terms and then bailed out on them.

The long awaited ring return for undefeated WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade has, unfortunately, hit another roadblock as Anthony Mundine (47-7, 27 KOs) has reneged on an agreement to challenge Andrade next month in his native Australia.
"We agreed to terms with Mundine's promoter but have heard nothing back since then," 27-year-old Andrade explained. "Mundine calls out (Floyd) Mayweather but he won't take a legitimate WBO World title fight at 154 pounds in his own country? Same old story, I guess. Everybody wants something until they have a chance to really get it."
"Anthony Mundine's team had one of those careful-what-you-wish-for moments," Andrade's manager Ed Farris noted, "in which Demetrius accepted all of their requested terms, including Demetrius putting up his WBO belt to fight Mundine on his own home turf. After previously agreeing to fight Andrade, Mundine's team has now had a change of heart, and they apparently are looking to fight a lesser opponent."
"I don't understand," a frustrated Andrade added. "We offered this guy a chance to win the championship of the world in his home country and he looked for a way out instead? What kind of fighter is he? Any real fighter would do anything for that kind of an opportunity."

Andrade says Mundine reneged on fight deal

Undefeated WBO jr middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs) says Anthony Mundine (47-7, 27 KOs) has reneged on an agreement to challenge Andrade next month in Australia. “We agreed to terms with Mundine’s promoter but have heard nothing back since then,” the 27-year-old Andrade said. “Mundine calls out (Floyd) Mayweather but he won’t take a legitimate WBO World title fight at 154 pounds in his own country? “I don’t understand,” said Andrade, who hasn’t fought in 13 months. “We offered this guy a chance to win the championship of the world in his home country and he looked for a way out instead? What kind of fighter is he? Any real fighter would do anything for that kind of an opportunity.”

No Australian fighter has ducked more fights than Mundine. He is in a class of his own in that regard after adding Trout (who I've last count how many times he's ducked) and Andrade to his growing list.

Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
'Mundine got cold feet' is the catch-cry from the major on-line boxing sites.
Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
that's pathetic.
Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
Is anyone surprised by this? Mundine has talked about taking paycuts, fighting on the world stage for ages. Look at this quote from 2009.bogan whisperer wrote:Mundine is copping a huge spray for letting the Andrade fight go. Andrade and his team claim Mundine accepted all terms and then bailed out on them.

Blah,blah,blah
"It's going to an historic night - it's going to be my third world title and this might be my last fight in Australia," Mundine said of the upcoming bout.
"Because after this there is nothing but big fish to fry.
"I am willing to travel overseas, take a pay cut, just to show the people what I can do, who I am."
Mundine said his management were already on the verge of securing a "big, major fight".
"After I win this title, which I will, all I want is champions," he said.
"I don't want to mess around with contenders, I just want champions.
"Whether it's Pavlik, whether it's Abraham, whether it's Sturm - give me one of them."

Are you fu..ed in the head or what :?? whats that sh.. got to do with Mundine v Andrade :??verballistic wrote:One of Mundine's homeboys recently got smoked by a drone strike in Syria while fighting for ISIS:
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/former- ... ore-298227Mundine might be saddened, but the world is a much better place without Elomar.Mohammad Elomar, who emerged as one of the worlds most infamous boxers, has reportedly been killed in a coalition airstrike in northern Iraq last month. Although his fellow Australian Khaled Sharrouf was believed to have been killed as well, it was later revealed that Sharrouf was not with Elomar at the time and survived the coalition airstrike. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott later expressed confidence that Elomar was killed before adding that both Elomar and Sharrouf were ‘evil terrorists.’ But final confirmation came earlier this month Elomar’s 14-year-old second wife sent a message to her grandmother in Australia confirming the death of her husband.
“My husband got hit by a drone yesterday and got killed.” Mrs. Elomar reportedly told Karen Nettleton in a text message according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “When I found out I was happy for him to get what he wanted and go to paradise but at the same time I was devastated because I loved him so much and I knew I was never gonna see him again in this life.”
Sharrouf and Elomar quickly emerged as two of the most recognizable terrorists in the world after they went to Syria in the early days of the Syrian Civil War. Although Elomar last boxed in June of 2013, winning a split decision against Takamori Akita, he soon gave up his boxing career and became involved with the radical terrorist group known as the Islamic State. He shocked boxing fans in July of 2014 when he posted a photo on Twitter of him holding up the severed heads of two Syrian soldiers while grinning. He subsequently posted photos of himself posting the severed heads on an iron fence. Another picture featured Elomar holding up a severed head next to three other heads on the ground hear him. As recently as February of this year Elomar was featured in a gruesome ISIS execution video in which a captured soldier was beheaded by Sharrouf.![]()
Elomar is perhaps best known to boxing fans in Australia as the problematic light welterweight prospect Mohammed “Suger” Elomar, who amassed a record of 19-1, 9 KOs. Elomar’s netted the Australian Super Featherweight title with a TKO over Ernie Gonzalez back in December of 2008 in what remained his most noteworthy win. However, Elomar failed to fully capitalize on his potential and reportedly earned a reputation as a dirty fighter. His 2006 fight with Matt Powell ended in a no contest due to the “unruly” nature of both combatants, and in his only loss, Elomar was disqualified the following year in a rematch with Powell due to low blows. Perhaps most infamously, in November of 2008 Elomar was involved in one of the most disgusting displays in Australian boxing history when he was involved in a riot after his brother Ahmed Elomar scored a first round knockout over undefeated prospect William Kickett. The riot turned so ugly that Fox News cut its live broadcast of the fight. Although Ahmed Elomar was recorded throwing chairs at individuals during the riot, Mohammed and Ahmed were dismissive of the negative response from Australian boxing fans after the incident, citing racism.

Little wonder Andrade was so keen to get the Mundine fight and so pissed off when Mundine walked away from it, with the news the WBO has sent a letter to the promoters asking him to show cause as to why they shouldn't strip him of the title and declare it vacant.

Re: Mundine vs Andrade for WBO title in October in Australia
Andrade has now called Mundine's bluff big time by offering to fight him in Australia without even so much as a rematch clause and with Mundine pocketing all the Australian PPV money >>>
Today, Team Andrade countered with a statement of its own to clarify this dubious situation. "Let's make this perfectly clear," Andrade's manager Ed Farris said. "Mundine's side is bending the facts and hiding the truth in an attempt to back out of the fight.
Andrade remains hopeful that Mundine will accept the challenge and sign a contract to fight him as soon as possible. "I think Australian fans would love to see their two-time World Champion fighting the current World Champion in his home country," Andrade commented. "I want this fight to happen. I don't care about a rematch clause. The fact is, if Mundine beats me, he deserves to go fight whoever he wants. I've told my promoters to get rid of the rematch option and make this fight happen.

I agree he should take the fight, But I doubt its gonna happen now or if it was ever going to happen at all.
