Mayweather vs Lara
Mayweather vs Lara
Why isn't this being considered? Why is everyone being named an opponent except him?
"He doesn't have a title?" Yes he does
"Floyd doesn't fight at 154?" He's still listed as the Ring champion at 154.
"He doesn't bring money?" Neither do Berto or Mayfield
"He lost to Alvarez last year?" Narrowly. Berto was KO'd by Sotto Karass two years ago and Mayfield lost to both Taylor and Durlorme last year.

Re: Mayweather vs Lara
Because Lara could viably win in what would be the most boring fight of all time. Floyd has never faught a rangier outside fighter for a reason.

He is a world champ only in name. The WBA 'regular' World Title isn't really a World title.IKSRTFO wrote:Why isn't this being considered? Why is everyone being named an opponent except him?

Lara is a very good boxer, but he is unpopular and would make for a dull, yet difficult fight for FMJ. It seems like Floyd isn't keen on taking such a tough fight this time out, but it's really all up in the air until an official announcement is made. Maybe someone we don't expect will get the call.
If Berto gets the fight, don't bother arguing why so-and-so deserves it and not Berto, because merit is obviously not what drove the decision making process if he gets it.

So enlighten me on how Berto and Mayfield are more popular than Lara
Re: Mayweather vs Lara
Floyd doesn't need potentially difficult fights at this stage of his career,it`s all about making money and preserving his unbeaten legacy, there easier fights out there for him and it wouldn`t be that great a spectacle imo

They aren't necessarily. None of them are very popular, but Lara would make for a boring, yet difficult fight, in addition to him being unpopular. Except among hardcore fans, people aren't really going to care more if Lara got the fight than if Berto gets it. If Floyd picks Berto, he obviously isn't looking for the best opponent, just one that could make for an entertaining fight on network TV.IKSRTFO wrote:chucktaylor wrote:He is a world champ only in name. Remember, he was so badly criticized by the public and Worldwide media after beating Pacman for being boring that he won't want his next fight to be viewed as a stinker as well.
Re: Mayweather vs Lara
It's not hard to figure out. Lara would be a tough fight. 60\40 Floyd. By that I mean punches landed. They would get booed out. The style clash is the farthest thing you can get for entertainment. Besides that, Lara lost to Canelo in a close fight, and Canelo didn't win a round vs Floyd.
Aside from that, Floyd wants an entertaining, but relatively easy fight. That shouldn't be hard to understand, whether you like it or not. I still think Khan is a possibility as an opponent. Even Haymon doesn't know according to Khan.

And Berto lost to both Guerrero and Ortiz but yet you have no problem with him as an opponent?
Maidana lost to Khan and was dominated by Alexander
Hypocrite
Re: Mayweather vs Lara
I'm so glad Floyd has pissed in the eyes of his Hateful critics (Packy fans) by picking Berto, who cares if they cry , that's all they have been doing for years.
Floyd is the best of this era and he proved it easily vs Packy so he deserves an easy fight after fighting 5 tough opponents in a row.

You can obviously read, but seen to have trouble comprehending. I said before I prefer Thurman, Brook, or Bradley. I said Lara is a dangerous fight but would be incredibly boring due to his and Floyd's styles. I also said Floyd wants a relatively easy, but entertaining fight.IKSRTFO wrote:Badhusker wrote:It's not hard to figure out. Lara would be a tough fight. 60\40 Floyd. By that I mean punches landed. This fight isn't about challenges or legacies. It is about entertainment and to give something back to the fans via free on TV. Floyd is blamed for an expensive, boring fight vs the biggest challenge of his career. The fact that bothers people like you is that Pacqiao wasn't anywhere close to good enough to make it competitive.
Maybe Pac can fight Lara since he is a couple years younger and can fight with both arms.

all fights of floyd are boring, regardleess of him boxing lara or not, doesnt make a difference
as far as most boring fight ever, nothing will ever top wladimir klitschko - povetkin
Re: Mayweather vs Lara
Can you imagine a worse or more boring fight to make? They would turn the music on and slap a couple of numbers on their back and make it a dancing contest.
It's a shame that Lara is too stupid to understand that his style is costing him money. The fans want to see the Lara that beat Angulo in that wild fight at the Stub Hub. That fight was electric and he didn't run in that one. He still showed his superior skills and did take a couple on the squash for his efforts but that's what we want. The style he's employed since the Canelo fight is disgusting to watch.
I didn't even watch Lara's last fight and i watch every fight i can. Can't watch, won't watch.
