What Eddie says and what Eddie does

Post by garethhop »

http://youtu.be/VL57Mlso40Y

Interview from only a few weeks back. Some quotes

"Nice tie in with our O2 show - Floyd is fighting September 12th - few rumours its Kell brook, I don't think so but you never know.......

September 12th could feature James degale. Could feature James degale v Martin Murray. Will feature Martin Murray in a big fight.

Do you say to Kell brook lets go rios on September the 12th?
Do you say to James degale - do you fancy September the 12th?
Do you say to Anthony Joshua - do you fancy Manny Charf September the 12th?
Do you say to Martin Murray - do you fancy Matthew Macklin September the 12th?"

Confirmed card here -

On that theme, Eddie said Whyte won't be the opponent on 12th sept because of an injury and because of his trainer having something to deal with (car crash?). So of course Whyte is fighting on the show anyway.

Fighting August 1st too. Can't fight Joshua on September 12th because he's broken his hand and his trainer was in a car crash, but he can fight 6 weeks earlier and he can fight on the same night. Makes absolutely no sense. Like Yafai on the show in May, couldn't fight Megrino because of an injury, but he was still fit enough to box on the same show against a different opponent.

He's clearly giving Whyte exposure against some no hopers to make him look devastating to hype up the Joshua fight, of course to make it PPV worth too or to be chief support in a PPV event,

Was looking at going to this card but I'll be giving it a swerve now. I can understand that Rios team have all of a sudden become a nightmare to deal with and DeGale signing with Al Haymon means his next fight is now 90% likely to be in the states but surely he could of got a better fight for AJ than Cornish, Boylan v Connor seems to be the best fight on the card but it shouldn't be so high up the bill.
I know Hearns been let down but instead of putting pony cards could he not spread the fights? I really liked the young guns show he put on a couple months back, more of that then a solid card every 2 months instead of every month
