Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
I figured that you were going to say that.
and screw the (new)BBC news,
they are corrupt and biased anyway.
That story isnt the one that was originally published by
them BTW.
They had "Updated" it, to change some facts regarding the time.

Where's the proof if this, source please? Why would the BBC want to cover it up considering Cooper was a national hero, wouldn't they want prove there was a delay?Caractacus wrote:I figured that you were going to say that.

Where is your proof that it did not happen?Controversial wrote: Where's the proof if this, source please? Why would the BBC want to cover it up considering Cooper was a national hero, wouldn't they want prove there was a delay?
and you are correct,Sir Henry Cooper once was a national hero of England.
But that was back in the days when Britains still had some pride in themselves.

That BBC news story was from 2012.SteveO wrote:I doubt Caractacus will believe it, but here is a link to BBC news regarding the incident:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/16985467
and I doubt SteveO,Klompton and Evereb will believe it
but here is a link to an earlier BBC news story from 2003 on the 40th anniversary of the fight,
where the author states:
"Dundee brought the torn glove to the attention of the referee who insisted that a new glove be brought out,
which translated into a two-minute delay"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/2999248.stm
So how would you explain that?
Other then of course revisionsim in the BBC in the last 10 years particularly.

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
So your basing this conspiracy on the fact the footage between rounds 4 and 5 jolts slightly so thats proof it has been cut short? How come everyone is still in exactly the same position before and after the alleged edit then?Caractacus wrote:whats the running time of your compleat and unedited original BBC broadcast of Clay vrs Cooper I?
Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
Sorry to disappoint you (again) but that article just quotes the words of Henry Cooper. 'Enry always told that story.Caractacus wrote:but here is a link to an earlier BBC news story from 2003 on the 40th anniversary of the fight,

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
Yes he did. Interestingly in later life when interviewed he often never mentioned any delay, more a case of questioning what would have happened if he floored him earlier. I always wondered this and maybe if Ali didn't bounce off the ropes but fell straight onto his back, the ropes kind of broke his fall.SteveO wrote:Sorry to disappoint you (again) but that article just quotes the words of Henry Cooper. Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
Why dont you guys all just download your versions of your compleat ,unedited and original
video-tapes of the fight so that the rest of us here can see and judge for ourselves if it is as you say.
( I have an open mind)
What exactly is the problem with you wanting to do that?
so C'mon I dare you, I Double-Dare you!
BTW I noticed you were unable or unwilling to answer the questions as well.

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
Thats it,laugh it up.
You have to admit tho that it is rather curious that the BBC Radio Archives does not even have a copy of the live BBC radio broadcast
of Clay vrs Cooper I (June.18. 1963)but this Steve Bunce apparently has heard it (so he claims anyway).
What a joke(on you).

Just found out this Steve Bunce was born in December 1962 in London(England)
(never heard of him before)
but that would make him just 6 months old
when the fight took place,so he dont know what he's talking about.

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
BTW There no longer exists a copy of the compleate uninterupted original BBC broadcast on either video-tape or kinescope.
It was destroyed in the early 1970's.(Just like Quarry vrs Buster Mathis).

Let's sort out a few things.
1. Cactusass, you are 180 degrees off course re: the subject matter at hand. And you exploit the goofs and gaffes of others to support your imaginings. But your creativity is to be admired. It is clear what you WANT to be historically accurate, but relentlessly pining away does not change what was manifest. In the end...SIX seconds is all you get to make your case. (Though I've heard they called the fight on account of darkness, and they actually resumed the next morning after The fighter formerly known as Clay was well rested, while Henry was forced to remain in his corner with no chance of sleep, until the fight resumed 12 hours later.)
2. You need to know, that anyone can watch any show they want, from Sesame Street to Hard Porn, at any time they wish, without fear of critical feedback from folks on our forum.
3. If you wish to adhere to Boxrec "best practices" You should issue Giancarlo an apology for your edgy demeanor.

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
I would just like to see the video-tape or film footage that they are talking about and referring to,
rather then the Big Fights Inc. film footage(which is the only version I have ever seen dating back
to the release of aka Muhammad Ali released back in 1971(I saw it when it was re-released on the big screen back in 1975).
so Whats wrong in me asking?

Re: Cooper/Ali(Clay)
Send me £50 plus postage and packaging and I will send you a copy of 'a fight to remember ' a great documentary. Hosted by Harry carpenter. It shows much of the fight with unedited footage of between rounds 4 and 5. It coincides perfectly with my complete version from BBC. This hasn't been touched by big fights. It is directly from BBC. Carpenter addresses the audience after to confirm that he retimed in between rounds and it was 65 seconds. I dispute it slightly in that I made it 66 seconds.Caractacus wrote:I would just like to see the video-tape or film footage that they are talking about and referring to,
