It was destroyed in the early 1970's.(Just like Quarry vrs Buster Mathis).
Absolutely incorrect. I (among others) have a complete copy of the fight. You are showing monumental ignorance by continuing this line of argument.

The Clay vrs Cooper fight footage that appeared in the 1984 BBC programme A FIGHT TO REMEMBER
was in the end credits as "courtesy of Big Fights Films Inc."
wasnt it?
Why cant you just admit it.

BTW What appears to be the problem of letting someone like me study the footage on this 1984 programme?
I like to stick to the facts of the matter(any matter).

Caractacus. I am no longer commenting on this thread. You are being deliberately stupid as you want to be antagonistic and want attention.

Allow me to once again intervene>

Caractopus.....What exactly IS your position on this?

1. The fight was stopped for a considerable amount of time, and many of you guys are attempting to hide the truth of this.
2. I just don't know what in the world to believe on this one, though I saw it in real time, I just can't remember, and if you guys say it was six seconds, it probably wasn't.
3. I know perfectly well what happened at that fight, but damned if I'm not going to go down swingin' and swearin' otherwise.
4. Where the hell is my beer?
5. There is NO film of this that exists, and I am curious and want to see the photoshopped version that people are rallying behind, and claiming as "the real fight".

Like lots of urban myths it's been repeated for years so people assume its true. A bit like people who believe you can see the Great Wall of China from space. Thats been written in lots of books and I can even remember a teacher telling us this at school. Actually that isn't true either.

as opposed to curious, which is simply expressing that you don't know....and simply attempting to find out.

In this case he seems to not know, and yet know at the same time.

Is that even possible?

Perhaps Steve Bunce should consider donating a copy of his compleat unedited and uninterupted
copy of the audio of the BBC Radio Broadcast of Clay vrs Cooper I to the BBC Archives
as apparently they(the BBC) do not have a copy of their own anymore.
I sure would be interested in knowing what the first audio sentance they (the commentators utter as well as the last thing said
on it regarding the fight.

Hey Evereb,
when are you going to do some some actual research and dig up the newspaper articles
that were written up by the English press who where actually sitting ringside at that fight
and that were published in the various newspapers the very next morning after the actual fight?
and not 50 years later by people who claim to know the events but were actually still doing a dump in their diapers in June of 1963.
(such as Steve Bunce)
You can start with
THE NEWS OF THE WORLD
and
THE SUN.
Im sure both probably covered the event.

We could ask the same question of you but more importantly we dont need to because unlike weve seen the entire fight without edits and dont need to talk out of our asses.

Its funny that twice today I have come across references to the cooper vs clay myth ; one mentioned earlier ; the second was at the interval of round 5 - 6 to tyson vs thomas when thomas' glove got damaged and the commentators said that because of dundee's involvement with the purported glove tampering in 1963 they made it 'law' to have a spare pair of gloves ringside!! Never heard that one!
I love how angelo exploded at the ringside doctor between rounds one and two - showing his true colours?? He was super angry!!!!

Yes it did but it was still called "The Daily Herald" in 1963.
(It was the very same newspaper and quit trying to confuse people here)
BTW it wasnt a myth
until you guys here(and Max Kellerman and the dude with the chIa pet like hair on ESPN decided it upon yourselfs to call it such)

Funny how an entire new law was made by the British Board of Boxing for just a mere " extra six seconds delay"
Dont you think?
