Of course Berto beats Algieri and Rios. He just KTFO another guy who would ALSO beat both Rios and Algieri in Lopez.

I don't thing Algieri stays vertical once Berto tags him right. And Andre is skilled enough to box circles around Rios with more than enough power to make Brandon respect him.

Easy wins both for Andre, even at his age.

Berto doesn't box, he was getting outboxed by shot Lopez before he finally caught up to him and Lopez is far from a boxer. Berto is a fast-handed brawler with crappy defense, low workrate, no jab, and while he can hurt you if he catches you with something you don't see, his power is not especially impressive otherwise. He has heart but has simply not improved his boxing craft over his career. Rios would just walk through his stuff and bang on him all night and Algieri would outbox Berto easily. This is not to say that either of them are that good. It's that they are good enough to beat Berto. Berto's last fight against a semi-credible opponent he got beat up and stopped by journeyman Soto-Karass. Before that, beat up by Guerrero(who has since been exposed as a top 20 Welterweight at best) and Ortiz(not much needs to be said here). The shining achievement of Berto's career is a very dubious win over Luis Collazo. He is simply not very good and never has been.

You don't want to talk about records and quality of competition here when supporting Rios and Algieri.

Algieri's lone claim to fame is getting some home cooking after Provodnikov beat his arse.

Rios's signature win is Mike Alvarado- 'nuff said.

Compared to those two, Berto has a HOF resume.

Fact is, Berto just KTFO of a guy that also has a HOF resume in comparison to those two.

And, as stated earlier in this thread, he did just as expeditiously as Maidana and Canelo. Hell, Maidana had a rougher time of it than Berto did with Lopez.

And I highly doubt ANYONE on this board picks Rios or Algieri to survive Marcos.

Hey, I want Floyd to fight Canelo or Cotto in September too. Hell yes, I pop a bunch of popcorn if Money and GGG were meeting at 154.

But, those fights are not going to happen in September.

So yeah, I am good with Floyd taking a victory lap on FREE TV against a credible opponent who is always in viewer friendly fights.

The reality is after that last bulls@it fight, Mayweather can't sell any more PPV's to the public, so he might as well have it on free TV. Aside fighting G3 (great opponent) or Cotto/Canelo again (Own fanbase), I can't find somebody that he would sell over a million PPV's with. I honestly think he'd be below 750K. Thus he is still trying to collect money without the PPV money, so they bring in Berto possibly. A safe opponent that would be happy just to get a big purse, even if it is less than the last few Mayweather opponents.

Rios fight was next after the KO loss. Algieri was undefeated before fighting Manny, and he is definitely bigger than Manny.

Also, Manny's options were more limited due to TR vs GBP and then TR vs Haymon splits. Floyd doesn't really have any limitations in choice of opponents.

In my opinion Floyd is very limited because of not only the CBS/SHOWTIME contract.
But the big one the multiple lawsuits against his adviser Haymon.
Everyone may want to fight Floyd but there are limitations because of these 2 conflicts.
