Odd comment in Jeff Mayweather article...

In the above linked article by Jeff Mayweather from yesterday, he speaks of the lack of a buzz in Vegas about the Pacquiao-Morales rematch and suggests that the low interest is due to the "round-robin effect". He states that because we have already seen them fight each other, it might be more interesting to see either guy against someone new. He then immediately writes "can you imagine for example how exciting of a fight IBF Lightweight Champion Jesus Chavez would make for either guy?"

This is bizarre considering less than two years ago, Morales already fought and beat Chavez by 118-108, 117-109 and 115-112. Perhaps those ten defeats have had some effect on "Jazzy's" memory?!

maybe he means @ lightweight, where he figures Chavez has a better chance. memory is hazy but I recall the one-armed Chavez somehow giving Morales all kinds of problems off the ropes. I'm pretty sure there were shouts for a rematch right after, because of the fact it was still relatively close given the fact Chavez busted himself up. (was it his arm, can't remember?).

Pacman's and ex-flyweight, no business imo up at 135.

I don't think neither Barrera, Pacquiao nor Morales should be fighting at 135 lbs anyway. I think the Raheem fight proved it to be a step too far, although this hasn't dampened my interest in Barrera-Chavez.

I seem to remember it was Chavez's shoulder that went Phoenix and he still gave Morales a decent argument in the fight after that. Morales-Pacquiao II may not be buzzing in Vegas but i'm certainly buzzing about the prospect of them going at it again!

The fight I really want to see is Barrera-Pacquiao II. I reckon in a rematch Barrera would school him and further cement his status as one of the all time greats.

His rotator cuff went in the second round, could only throw the left hook all night, goto say I think Vitali quit because he was tired aswell as the rotator cuff

I'm sitting in the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas preparing for my Friday night out on the town and can tell you there is a huge buzz.

Everyone knows whatever else happens you're guaranteed an exciting fight. Small talk with virtually everyone is turning to it totally unprompted.
