Fury is comedy gold! Bixing needs more characters like him 100%
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
I guess I must just be in a crowd of one.
I just find trash talking tedious. And I mean extremely tedious. It's by far the worst part of boxing. The problem is, when Ali did it in the 1960s it was something novel and different. Now every fighter does it, and it's never particularly funny. Boxing isn't Eastenders, I don't tune in to watch people argue or make fannies of themselves. In the same way that I don't tune in to watch them spend 15 minutes to walk to the ring playing some shit music or another. Even when they have a square off or some kind of fight at a press conference, you not it's all set up. People were lapping up the fact that Haye and Chisora had a big fight, and yet after their Upton Park meeting they were hugging, saying how much they loved each other.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but most boxers aren't that amusing when they trash talk. Look at Fury. People claim he's funny, but I just don't see it. Ha Ha. He mentioned underpants. Oscar Wilde himself never showed such wit.
What will he do next, claim that Klitschko and Bellew are gay lovers. People might wait with baited breath. I can't be arsed, wake me up when the fighting starts. Not this bollocks.
I appreciate all this makes me a weird freak, that I tune in to watch the actual boxing and not to see grown men show off. And that everybody is going to tell me how boring I am. But I find it all extremely tiresome.

There was a regularly minute stint about just this on BBC Breakfast so it paid offILikeBeer wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/33613963
Mate, Fury is such a clown. He really is trying to be the biggest bellend in the history of sport now, isn't he?
I might refuse to buy the PPV just for his annoying underpants waffle. Prick.

I like Fury for his comedic value, not even trash talk really. Even Haye, on Ringside, was pissing himself when he said "you swallowed against Solis, you swallowed against Thompson, you swallowed against Wlad, and against me, you'll be swallowing your teeth"!

He's a bit of a plumb but he can be amusing at times, but he's says Vlad is boring to watch, is Fury that exciting himself?

Bit surprised we didn't get the ever tedious 'Ay ham hay fytin mann' line ..
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
The trash talk is all part of the game and designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to sell a fight. If Haye hadn't hyped up the Klitschko fight so much with the t-shirt displaying the decapitated heads or Groves hadn't hyped up the Froch fights by the garbage he was spouting they wouldn't have proved half as popular with fans. That's why it puzzles me when boxers like Klitschko and Froch get all offended by what the opponent says to them on the grounds of them lacking respect. The sh*t talk is selling the fight and putting money in their pockets for Christ's sake. Just take it for what it is, talk.
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
Used to dislike him because I didn't get him at all and it all seemed so forced. Now I find some of the things he says really funny. But the main thing that changed my mind on him was his extremely honest interview on IFL after the 2nd Haye cancellation. Since then I've seen a few humble moments with him and I do believe he's an honest, loyal bloke with some glaring issues rather than a complete knob. Was impressed with the way he spoke about Price too.

You're not. Fury is a boorish, obnoxious halfwit. He's about as amusing as Hitler setting fire to an orphanage.ILikeBeer wrote:I guess I must just be in a crowd of one.

Exactly, would FMJ have made so much money just because of his boxing ability? No way, look at Ward he is super skilled too but because he's boring as fvck he hasn't been earning anything near as much as he could.SteveDow wrote:The trash talk is all part of the game and designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to sell a fight. Fury has set himself up for life by making the right decisions, training for years and by his personality. Good luck to him.

are they orphaned young offenders, or just normal common-or-garden orphans? wouldn't it be funny if they were orphaned arsonists, though, ooh the irony.Teddy's Toupee wrote:You're not. Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
What are you basing this claim. There have been many huge fights without any trash talking. Froch/Kessler, Froch/Bute for example. Some of the biggest names are not trash talkers, Pacquiao, DelaHoya, Cotto, Hatton to name the few. Klitschko is a massive ticket seller himself.SteveDow wrote:The trash talk is all part of the game and designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to sell a fight. Also where did you see Klitschko offended by lack of respect. In fact he wet out of his way to drag things out from Fury today.
