Mitchell Smith
How far does everyone think Mitchell Smith will go.
Great test for him this Friday.
I was sceptical at first, but I'd say he's ready for British level now, he will definetly get to Euro level in the next 18 months.
If he keeps progressing I think he could be on the world scene in 2 years.

Re: Mitchell Smith
I think u cud see smith fight troy james for vacant title if liam walsh vacates. his also talked about dropping down to featherweight and fancies a shot at josh warrington.

Re: Mitchell Smith
Can't see Fwank wanting it. Smith sells a lot(for a Londoner), Josh sells out arenas, no way would he want him in Leeds on a matchroom show.maley1984 wrote:I think u cud see smith fight troy james for vacant title if liam walsh vacates. his also talked about dropping down to featherweight and fancies a shot at josh warrington.
Re: Mitchell Smith
Someone like John Simpson would be a good test for him. He has great potential. I keep forgetting he's only 22. I would take him to beat Martin Ward just now IMO but he's not ready for Walsh or Stephen Smith just yet. Time is on his side.

He makes a hell of a statement if he gets Tuberion out of there.

Re: Mitchell Smith
At the moment id put Warrington at a higher level than Smith.
If Smith beats him and does a better job than Warrington then a fight becomes viable (never going to happen though with Matchroom and Frank).
Also Warrington didn't look like stopping him. I think Smith- Warrington would be a closer fight than Selby - Warrington
I hope this doesn't provoke too big of a Yorkshire backlash

Re: Mitchell Smith
Tuberion's been stopped multiple times (once in the second round) and everyone knows that Warrington doesn't have much power, but is good in other departments.
A stoppage itself doesn't really make 'a hell of a statement' in my opinion, and a stoppage win isn't necessarily more impressive than a decision win.

Re: Mitchell Smith
Looks short for a super feather would rather he went down to feather but there's deffo potential.

Surely my saying it's not a statement is more of a criticism of Josh? And I'm not from Leeds! Can we get this idiot banned?

Re: Mitchell Smith
He looks really well balanced and I like how he rolls in and out, if he boxes his way in he'll look good and land hard shots. He seems a bit spiteful as well, leering at his opponent etc.chiggsy wrote:Looks short for a super feather would rather he went down to feather but there's deffo potential.
Re: Mitchell Smith
Its obvious Tuberion is booked as a comparison to Josh Warrington who he has had twitter beef with. However why isn't this fight at Featherweight then ? Tuberion will move up in weight yet again.
Did see Smith on the Fury Chisora card and wasn't impressed, only 22 though, but there are loads of guys domestically to test him.

I tweeted smith about that and he said he didn't want to lose his ranking (10th i believe ) with the wbo at super feather. So if he isnt dropping down warrington deffo not moving up cant see why they want the comparison as the fight wont happen.
Re: Mitchell Smith
Super feather he won't do much, he's to small, for me at feather he can really do the damage, think Ryan Walsh beats Warrington also, has a lot of work rate but lacks power, love his fans though ha

He already has another account. And probably another one being lined up in anticipation of his next ban.mickey1975 wrote:Surely my saying it's not a statement is more of a criticism of Josh? And I'm not from Leeds! Can we get this idiot banned?

Depends if he joins matchroom or not. He can stay where he is, fight his way up the rankings and then sign away his life to get a title shot, or he can move over to matchroom for more money, opportunities and exposure.

To be fair he gets quite a lot of coverage on BN.JimJim2009 wrote:Depends if he joins matchroom or not. He can stay where he is, fight his way up the rankings and then sign away his life to get a title shot, or he can move over to matchroom for more money, opportunities and exposure.
Also he gets a lot of attention due to social media. He plays that game very well.
Re: Mitchell Smith
He seems to hav a real issue with warrington. Twitter will b interesting after tonight.
Re: Mitchell Smith
Would expect him to get to British/European level, but no further. Hopefully I am proved wrong.

Re: Mitchell Smith
He seems jealous of Josh. Nobody thinks Josh is the next Hatton in terms of ability, only ticket sales, but Smith keeps going on about it. Maybe because Smith can do 800 in London, which is decent for there, he thinks he's a seller as well!maley1984 wrote:He seems to hav a real issue with warrington. Re: Mitchell Smith
Great finish by Smith. Would like to see him in with Warrington, not sure what weight they would meet or which is best for either lad.
Can they get it made tho given the promoters?

Re: Mitchell Smith
I know its not a personality contest so it shouldnt matter but i think Smith comes across as arrogant little mug. If he kept his mouth shut id be a fan as i think he has alot of skill and i enjoy watching him box. All that getting in the face at the weigh in grates on me as well (your fighting in 24 hours leave all the aggression for then ey!), and wearing sunglasses indoors is a no no in my eyes
