Daniel Jacobs vs Sergio Mora

Post by diddy »

Anyone give Mora any realistic chance here? I dont.

It's funny Haymon is putting in Jacobs and Danny Garcia with 2 guys who cant crack an egg, Mora and Paulie, on the same night. 2 guys who cant possibly KO the Haymon fighter, nor win a decision vs a Haymon fighter (obviously).

Great story with Jacobs.
With the full world champions I'd give him a chance against Lemiuex.
Close against Lee but I'd favour Lee.
Would lose to Cotto and GGG.

Two opponents who are over the hill and they should beat, but both fights should be competitive-ish and they are good names to have on their records.

I will once again point out that from an aesthetic point of view--which you'd imagine would be top priority, what with so much being spent on "branding" & buying up fight journalists to faun over them & suchlike PR bullshit--PBC's matchmaker doesn't appear to know what the feck he's doing.

Can anyone seriously come up with a more vile style-clash than Sergio fornicating Mora & Daniel Jacobs? I mean, holy hell, just try to imagine it. Scintillating stuff.

But...but it's on free TV and we can't complain about free stuff right!
...anyway, got to agree, the match maker needs to think about what they are doing other wise PBC's audience isn't going to last. You can't keep throwing "names" together in the hope they will make a good bout. They should be doing their best to get a Monta Meza Clay type fighter on every card to give a token "exciting brawl" if they want to put on canned and uninspiring mismatches as their main attraction.

Danny Jacobs already overcame his biggest opponent and I'm proud of him good on you Danny :TU:
As for the Mora fight, I wouldn't take Sergio lightly as he has the capability to cause an upset, but fully prepared Jacobs should be able to beat him.

The main event is really weak in Garcia v Malignaggi, every time I hear two East Coast guys squaring off like this reminds of the nightmare called the Battle of Brooklyn between Malignaggi and Judah, was that ever a sad and ugly excuse for a fight.
That turned me off New York boxers for some time after.

Detail Mora's path to victory. He surely can't KO Jacobs. Do you seriously believe he can beat Jacobs clearly enough to get a decision over the Haymon house fighter beltholder? He would have to win at least 9 rounds. He's not good enough to do that.

His paths to victory are 0 here.

I am not saying that Mora has good chances, but he is also a Haymon fighter. If he wins, he will be fed to Quillin. Also, judges didn't give Quillin a win over Lee, while they could.

Quillin only got a draw vs Lee because of Haymon. It's hard to win a fight when you DONT THROW ANY PUNCHES.

Haymon doesn't give a crap about Mora. His career is almost over and no one cares about him and his feather fists. He only signed him to
safely slide him in as a "name" to pad the resume of his fighters he actually does care about.

:OhYes:

See also: Josesito Lopez, Abner Mares, Cristobal Arreola, Shawn Porter Robert Guerrero, Malignaggi... The fact that, like I said, the matchmaker is evidently getting it hideously wrong quite a lot of the time (either making for an ugly, boring fight or with the dude with more earning potential/bigger profile fornicating it up & losing) is becoming quite hilarious.

The saddest part about that particular boxing card is that Jacobs/Mora is probably the best undercard bout boxing has put together this year. It's a bad card, plain and simple. With a bunch of garbage fights on the PBC upcoming schedule, Haymon is bound to get some serious heat after these two pillow fights take place. I'm hoping that he'll be forced to pit some of his protected fighters against each other. Otherwise, the PBC idea will be buried next to USFL's grave.

The Garcia/Peterson & Quinlin/Lee card was fantastic and the Broner/Porter fight was ok but the rest of the fights are just junk and nothing noteworthy on the schedule aside from Santa Cruz/Mares which should be a fun fight.

Btw, I think the judges have been pretty good on PBC so far.

Jacobs is a -2000 favorite. Pretty sure he wins but this is incredibly excessive. Mora isnt that bad.

With Danny's chin, a chance against Lemieux ? Jacobs won't last 6 rounds.

Both fighters only been stopped once. I'd pick Lemiux if they fought but not a confident pick.
Lemiux will be getting his chin tested against GGG now.

I think the Jacobs fight odds are what they are bc there's no way in hell Haymon lets him lose his title in his hometown. Mora would need to seriously win 10 rounds to win a split in Brooklyn. Obviously a KO for Mora is out of the question. Just like with Paulie. But let's keep it real - this is why Haymon chose these opponents for Garcia and Jacobs. Neither can punch and he already has 2 of the judges taken care of. Just in case they would be needed. But they probably won't be needed.

I think that's a unfair statement to make.

I haven't seen any suggestion that the judging in PBC has been awful, and definetly not different to other promoters.
