Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
I still think Klitschko will win,he's the best HW in the world, he was excellent against Pulev but didn't shine against Jennings, I just worry about Fury's opponents leading up to the fight,I would've like to have seen him in with another tall fighter, its a pity what happened with the Ustinov situation ,but he's here now and he's got to use his brain in this fight,Wlad's effective at what he does but he's still ponderous, he pawed the jab all night against Jennings and he panics when someones throwing at him and resorts to holding and leaning,if Fury can switch things up,confuse Klitschko, use his feet to get in and out so Wlad can't grab hold of him ,Fury's shown before he's more than a ,crude, wild and just a fun guy to watch, he's boxed to gameplans before and never dropped a round
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
Good points.
Fury was generally very impressive and fought disciplined fights against Hammer and Chisora. Maybe the time is right for him and he can pull it off against an old champ who is used to being the bigger man. I'll also point out that while Wlad flattened Pulev he was getting hit more than usual and didn't look too good between all the knockdowns.

If Fuey had a serious dig on him, I'd give him a shout, but without that, he's facing the best technical heavyweight of the last 10 years, and a guy with experience in spades.handsofstone wrote:I still think Klitschko will win,he's the best HW in the world, he was excellent against Pulev but didn't shine against Jennings, I just worry about Fury's opponents leading up to the fight,I would've like to have seen him in with another tall fighter, its a pity what happened with the Ustinov situation ,but he's here now and he's got to use his brain in this fight,Wlad's effective at what he does but he's still ponderous, he pawed the jab all night against Jennings and he panics when someones throwing at him and resorts to holding and leaning,if Fury can switch things up,confuse Klitschko, use his feet to get in and out so Wlad can't grab hold of him ,Fury's shown before he's more than a ,crude, wild and just a fun guy to watch, he's boxed to gameplans before and never dropped a round
It may go the distance if Fury engages the 'silent contract' and shuts down his offence, but he will be outclassed and put in his box.
Maybe I'm wrong, and Fury will come out and put it on him, and get him on the back foot and in panic mode, utilising his reach advantage, but I just don't see it panning out that way.
Either way, I look forward to it.
I don't think for what it's worth, that Fury will be strong enough physically to win the clinches with Wlad, he is a little taller, but Wlad is a much physically stronger and much more adept at nullifying people in close.
You never know in boxing, cometh the hour and all that, but Wlad looks completely composed in Fury's presence, and I suspect that Fury himself knows he is up against it.

Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
fury's best strength is the pace he can maintain for a fighter his size.
i think he'll lose at long range.
so he'll have to put pressure on.
it's whether he can be effective up close.
klitschko should deal with him.
8th rd stoppage for klits.

Excellent observation regarding Pulev.crusader wrote:Good points.

It was the most exciting Klitschko fight for years, precisely because it wasn't a one sided beatdown we have been used to versus overmatched midgets like Mormeck and Lepai.
Pulev wobbled Wlad pretty badly in the opening minute with a jab, which basically started all the fireworks. The concerning thing for Wlad (and possibly signs of decline) is Pulev isn't regarded as anything but a light hiting puncher with a 50% KO rate.
I think what Fury needs to learn from the Pulev fight is to not go Gung Ho. He has the tools with his punch output an variety, switch hitting, long effective jab and underarrated power to cause Wlad some serious problems. I also rate Fury's stamina as excellent despite his occasionally fleshy appearance (although you imagine with 3 months training until the fight he will come into the ring looking the best he ever has).
Fury has a better chance than many are giving him on here IMO.
The bookies have him as the 2nd shortest odds of any opponent Wlad has faced for a many years at 7/2 and that feels about right to me.
While Fury isn't a one punch KO artist - his sheer punch volume and size means he stops most of his opponents and with a 75% KO rate, in fact only David Haye (who acquired most of his KOs at Cruiser) has actually had a higher KO% in any of Wlad's world title fights.
If Pulev can wobble Wlad then I'm sure Fury can put him down tbh.
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
The reason why Fury has a better KO ratio is because he has fought a lower level of opponent.Maxsplit wrote:Excellent observation regarding Pulev.crusader wrote:Good points.

I would say that Pulev hits a lot harder than Fury. If Fury was a hard hitter he would have KO'd himself with that uppercut he hit himself with a few years back.
Fury Wlad will play out like a Game of Thrones style scenario where the court jester is forced into a joust to the death against the champ.

I think you underestimate how powerful trash talking is in selling a fight. Some fighters have made millions from being a trash talker with average ability.Tarkus wrote:Wembley was sold out at the back of the controversy of the first fight. Of course some fights can be enhanced by trash talking but not by much nor is it necessary. There are trash talking going on in many fights that dont sell Stadiums.SteveDow wrote: Did I say Klitschko was offended by Fury? No, I said he was offended by Haye which he was.
So are you telling me that were it not for the hype and needle between Froch and Groves they would still have sold 80,000 tickets at Wembley? Of course not. Would Haye v Chisora have sold out Upton Park were it not for the pre-fight needle, I doubt it. Same for Harrison v Haye. Trash talk isn't needed for all fights but it is needed for fights which are otherwise viewed as fairly one sided.
Klitschko was upset with Haye because he posed with picture where he was killing his brother. Selling few more tickets cant be an excuse for everything. Frazier was also upset when Ali called him gorilla and Uncle Tom and rightly so.
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
Brits tend to significantly overestimate their own. ALL the guys Fury has looked good against have had next to no pop and been comparatively undersized. His own sheer size and skill-set were enough in these circumstances. Wlad is a different beast entirely, I don't see anything other than a very straightforward (short) stoppage defence.
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
no one knows
klit is a very cautious fighter weren't change
people said he'll knock Jennings out, never happened.

Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
He will aim to knock Fury out in under five rounds, I'd almost bet my life on it. Manny Steward (now Banks) had fairly straightforward and consistent rules of thumb.cold187 wrote:no one knows

So why has he done 12 loads of times?Sklar wrote:He will aim to knock Fury out in under five rounds, I'd almost bet my life on it. Manny Steward (now Banks) had fairly straightforward and consistent rules of thumb.cold187 wrote:no one knows

Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
Because Manny Steward had fairly straightforward and consistent rules of thumb (his rule of thumb for taller opponents hasn't been relevant all that many times for Wlad).mickey1975 wrote:So why has he done 12 loads of times?Sklar wrote:He will aim to knock Fury out in under five rounds, I'd almost bet my life on it. Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
You are right Mickey. Guys only get KO'd against him a) early when they take risks or go gung ho b) late after he jabs them to death. I doubt Fury will be committing to his punches that much in the first half of the fight (and probably not second half either). I don't think Wlad will be aiming to take him out early, but at the same time I wouldn't rule it out happening as he will probably have Fury on queer street after he lands the first straight jab.mickey1975 wrote:So why has he done 12 loads of times?Sklar wrote:He will aim to knock Fury out in under five rounds, I'd almost bet my life on it. John, take a look at how Wald starts against Wach. If he doesn't do exactly the same against Fury, I'll eat my shorts. The difference being Wach has one of the best chins in the business and could take the right hands, I don't think Fury will be able to.

Have you been in camp with them Sklar? And that's not a sarcastic remark, you've always been very pro Klitschko.

Not strictly. Friends of friends of friends type of thing.mickey1975 wrote:Have you been in camp with them Sklar? And that's not a sarcastic remark, you've always been very pro Klitschko.
Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
I predict the smaller Wlad will dance around the ring for a while, popping a frustrated Fury with the jab. Eventually Fury will collapse to the canvas, and Wlad will begin to gloat over him due to the tense build up leading into the fight. Suddenly, from the canvas, Fury will trip Wlad up, and use the thumbs of his gloves to gouge out Wlad's eyes. The world will look on in horror as Fury continues to apply pressure on Wlad's head, until it finally explodes like a melon.johnswan1 wrote: Fury Wlad will play out like a Game of Thrones style scenario where the court jester is forced into a joust to the death against the champ.

Re: Tyson Fury prattles on about his underpants
I've always said that Fury needed to have a couple more fights to give himself the best possible chance of beating Wlad. It would have been a risk though. Beating up one paced small heavyweights isn't the best prep for Wlad.Sklar wrote:Brits tend to significantly overestimate their own.
