Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
Havent seen lemieuxs last couple of fights, but sounds like he has learned from his poor outings and seasoned a bit. If not, its going to be game over pretty fast. Imo he is theRe to be hit, his jaw and generel punch resistance im unsure of. Golovkin better be aware of lemieuxs speed and power though.
It could be a majot upset, the chance is there, but i expect ggg by ko within five.

Not really because people dont think Lemieux as a real challenge.Impractical Poster wrote:But, would this match-up give G some credence in the eyes of his critics?world ranked wrote:Its not signed yet.Impractical Poster wrote:Are people not happy with GGG/Lemieux?
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
If GGG didn't agree to go to 168 to fight JCC jr or Froch, he wouldn't look scared like he does to fight Ward there, instead of demanding 164. Ward hasn't made that in 8-10 years, so it won't happen. BHop is a more winnable fight for him - not sure why he wouldn't take that, but guess it is a no-win situation fighting a 50 yr old guy.

Isn't BHop retiring?Badhusker wrote:If GGG didn't agree to go to 168 to fight JCC jr or Froch, he wouldn't look scared like he does to fight Ward there, instead of demanding 164. Anyhow, there is still the business aspect of boxing. Jr and Froch would bring in a lot more money than Ward would. So, he's willing to sacrifice weight negotiations there. Ward has never really had to be uncomfortable when it comes to weight and venue. So, let's at least let him meet G halfway. Especially when Ward would not be the draw here.
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
Exactly. Ward doesn't add much in terms of money.Impractical Poster wrote:Isn't BHop retiring?Badhusker wrote:If GGG didn't agree to go to 168 to fight JCC jr or Froch, he wouldn't look scared like he does to fight Ward there, instead of demanding 164. The Chavez fight was just for collecting a paycheck. No real challenge even at 168. The Froch fight was for the paycheck, good name on the resume and some challenge. The Ward fight is a real challenge with no financial incentive, so GGG Team is trying to level the field.
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
Then we are all agreed that GGG is no different from many other fighters when it comes to risk/reward.ikorolev wrote:Exactly. Worse even, as he has yet to fight one elite guy at his weight or bigger.
And it is this that is PREVENTING him from being great!
Look at all the legend non-heavys we think about.
SRR, Homicide Hank, SRL, RJJ, JMM, Floyd, Duran, Hearns, DLH, etc.
Isn't one of the things in common (for most, not all) is that they challenged a guy in a higher weight?
Granted, perhaps Ward should challenge at a higher weight as well.
But, his greatness is not in question. Ward retires right now, he eventually gets in the HOF.
That's because he has future HOF guys on his resume already.
Who is on Golovkin's resume?
Which brings us back to doe...
No, Ward is not the money that the others were.
But, he is still the A-side because his resume makes GGG's look like a joke.
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
GGG would fight any 168 lb fighter at 168....except Ward. Because he know he needs to handicap Ward. Because he fears him. Smart man.

I think he fears Lara too.
Not because he thinks Erislandy can beat him, but because he knows that he would be expected to KO the Cuban and that because of styles it might not happen.
And because KO or not Lara has this habit of making fighters look bad.

Lara has been in a few action tilts.
I don't think a GGG bout will be one of them tho.

I think you'll be surprised to see how great G is once his PPV numbers come in from the Lemieux fight. And these will be numbers from his first PPV and against someone not known to the common folk. I'll bet it beats Cotto/Martinez's $350K number. Other than Floyd, GGG is the main topic on pretty much every boxing forum ATM.koolkc107 wrote:[

And G is still relatively new on the scene. He will get the fights. Until then, just enjoy the ride...... or don't. Like I care.

Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
I'm getting lost with all this so-called ducking supposedly happening.
Golovkin is ducking Ward; Ward is ducking Kovalev; Stevenson is ducking Kovalev; Ward is ducking the 175lb division: I'm now just waiting for the post that claims that Sugar Ray Leonard ducked Ward, Golovkin, Hopkins, Kovalev & Stevenson!
If I see anymore duck threads, I might have to give the RSPB a call!

Using your analogy to make an excuse for GGG doesn't exclude him from being a duck. Now we have Abel Sanchez wanting a CW talking about scared.

Now when Gennady is scheduled to fight the most dangerous opponent at his weight earning more than he would against these two spoilers, this thread became ridiculous.

You mean the guy with back to back losses to juggernauts like Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine?
Granted, Lemieux looked much improved of late with Ws over Rosado and N'Jikam.
But, let's not act like this is some superfight between elites.
It isn't.
It will be fan friendly for however long it lasts. That's it. And that is good enough.
Think of if as GGG vs Stevens 2.0

Why would you say some stupid ish like this?? When have I ever condoned any fighter having a CW fight??Tanzio wrote:KBB wrote:You, of all people, should have no problem with catch weights, turB.

Don't start with the "it was Canelo's choice BS."
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
Comparing Lemieux and Stevens is just ridiculous. Stevens was following N'Dam like a puppy without throwing punches and was dropped himself. Lemieux was landing a dropping N'Dam.koolkc107 wrote:Most dangerous?ikorolev wrote:Now when Gennady is scheduled to fight the most dangerous opponent at his weight earning more than he would against these two spoilers, this thread became ridiculous.

Lemieux who lost to Rubio and Alcine was a 22-year old inexperienced hyped brawler. Now he is significantly better.
... and this fight is more super-fight than Mayweather's next fight.
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
If any fighter with anything to lose is stupid enough to agree to a fight for the sake of money by adding unnecessary stress to themselves then that's their problem.Tanzio wrote:So, you had a problem with FMJ winning the 154 belt at 152?

Why is it that you have a problem with what Canelo did, Floyd didn't put a gun to his head and make him agree to it.
Re: GGG Ducks Ward, BHop
Nobody puts a gun to anyone's head to take a catch weight fight. That doesn't change the fact that every catch weight fight has an *. Especially when it is for a belt.KBB wrote:If any fighter with anything to lose is stupid enough to agree to a fight for the sake of money by adding unnecessary stress to themselves then that's their problem.Tanzio wrote:So, you had a problem with FMJ winning the 154 belt at 152?

NO WAY is GGG vs Lemieux a superfight. It's an insult to use that word in anything Golovkin has done so far.
And I will go out on a limb and make 2 predictions.
1) This fight will be shorter than the Stevens fight.
2) It will not do 350K buys if priced at 69.99 or above.

Haha people still using "a-side" we get it. You like Floyd
But no ward isn't A side in any negotiations
If people think GGG only does 350k PPV sales
I guarantee ward wouldn't even sell 350 ( without the k) in Oakland on a PPV
He can't even get people to watch him for free
GGG doesn't fear ward for a second - people are delusional
