Jean Pascal vs Yunieski Gonzalez

Post by diddy »

I just looked at the odds for this fight and am floored Pascal is only -380.

Was expecting -1200. At least.

Gonzalez is a flat footed scrub that has feasted on bums. Pascal will whoop his ass. If you bet. Pound this. Pound it like a 12 yr old pounds his bird the first time watching porn.

Absurd line.

Undefeated Cubans always come with hype... whether wrongful or not, we'll find out.

Watch him on YouTube. He's flat footed and rudimentary.

This is almost too good to be true. The fight vs. Brad Austin is almost comically bad the amount of fundamental mistakes he makes. I can't believe he is a product of the Cuban amateur system.

I'm throwing something on Gonzalez. I'm not high on Pascal

I've never heard of him. Did he really train in the Cuban amateur system or is he just 'from Cuba'?

Just seen that Pascal has only had one KO win since 2009 but I think he has another one coming. This guy will make it fun by walking forward and throwing bombs until Pascal takes him out. This is the way to get back on the horse after being Kovaleved - face a strong brawler with no boxing skills and knock him out.

George Blades, Sep 2013, was his only KO win in nearly 6 years

Pascal is a better puncher than his KO percentage suggests, having hurt and/or dropped most of the fighters who've been the distance with him. I think his problem isn't so much power as it is a lack of stamina which leads to him fighting only in short spots, which give opponents chances to recover.

He's also been fighting at a level which Gonzalez hasn't come close to yet.

Fought as a heavyweight in the amateurs and has beaten currently undefeated Luis Ortiz,

Gonzalez will make this fight tighter than most think. He doesn't have enough to beat Pascal in my opinion, but he'll give a good showing.

Pascal should retire , he has taken too many shots to the noggin . He looked bad against Kovalev .

I'd put money on the Cuban , Gonzalez to win by TKO . :TU:

Yuniesky has KTFO power... So should be interesting. As long as his chin is ok, could get interesting if Gonzalez' stamina ends up being better than Pascal. Because i expect both fighters will trade violently in the first tier.

Lots of guys have KTFO power against cab drivers. I dont care about the amateurs either. Pascal has literally seen it all in the ring at this point. Compared to what he just faced, Gonzalez is gonna seem like a walk in the park. The dude is gonna just walk forward with his head down like he always does - except this team he's facing a real fighter who has put guys like Hopkins on the canvas. If he can put Hopkins on the floor, he can put this guy on the floor too.

I'll be surprised if Pascal lasts 3 rounds . I hope he socked enough money away to open a pizza joint or something , he's had a good run , decent chap but he is gonna lose .

Pascal lasted into the 8th with Kovalev in his only stoppage defeat, has been 12 with Froch, and widely defeated Bute last year, but you'll be surprised if he lasts 3 with the very untested Gonzalez? What's this based on?

I wonder if Pascal's been affected by the beating in the Kovalev fight?

If he's okay, he should win tonight without a problem.

This reads like it came out of the mouth of one of those morons who made me stop watching fights at bars.

Not the most impressive Cuban I have ever seen. But still Cuban school, over 300 amateur wins (according to Dwyer), that must count for something. I expect him to at least last the distance. And would not it be great if he pulls out the upset. Because, lets face it, Pascal is not going places no more.

Also dont get stuck on that Austin fight. Yes he looks shite there but against that opponent he might have been unprepared. If you look at some other bits of film you'll see that he has some solid fundamentals. Very good jab for example.

I expect a tentative fight from both sides early. Then we will see if he has a class and physicality to hang with Pascal.

It looks like another Cuban on the card, Barrera, doesn't have one punch KO power.

Cuban slugger? I am not buying it. It would be a short night if this Barrera guy steps in with Kova.

The fight reminded me Usyk vs Knyazev fight where one fighter clearly has a big advantage in skills and some advantage in power but is still troubled by a lower skill pressure fighter.
