Shumenov got the job done but not without frustration. Hard fought win.

Flores can't fight. Though he predicted the fight wouldn't go 4 too. Anyway Flores though allowed to weigh in at full CW limit was woeful against Shumenov apparently.

I predicted Shumenov would win today and was confident it would go the distance.

Like you I haven't had the chance to see the fight yet. But unlike you I won't be going off half cocked about what may or may not have taken place based on what half a dozen teenage hyenas post at ESB

Watch the fight first. Then make informed comments :TU:

Beibut Shumenov claims vacant interim cruiserweight title

Shumenov (16-2, 10 KOs) boxed from the outside and circled away from B.J. Flores' heavy counter shots, recording a unanimous decision win at the Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas. All three judges scored the bout 116-112 for Shumenov.

Despite being outlanded by Flores 114-104, according to CompuBox, Shumenov received the nod on the scorecards in just his second fight at 200 pounds.

"I knew B.J. is a cruiserweight, and I knew he would be a very strong guy," said Shumenov, who held the light heavyweight belt from 2010 to 2013 but moved up because of problems making weight. "It was a great fight, but people saw that I scored more points. He was more lunging and looking for a knockout. I fought a smart fight and looked for points. I did enough to win the fight."

Shumenov, a native of Kazakhstan who fights out of Las Vegas, was wobbled into the ropes late in Round 12 from a Flores right hand. Flores (31-2-1, 20 KOs) landed the harder shots throughout and was disappointed with the scorecards.

"Beibut always comes forward, he is always aggressive and a really strong fighter," Flores said. "But tonight he ran all night. It's just tough to win a fight when you go backwards the whole night, in my opinion.

"My punches were visibly hurting him, and he was just touching me. The whole fight he is just backing up. It's very tough to corral a guy that doesn't want to fight. You have to want to fight. The PBC is about guys who want to fight."

"I am still in the learning process," Shumenov said. "Ismael is the best trainer in the world, so every time I go to the gym, I always learn something new. Boxing is not a gladiator match. Boxing is an art. You use your skill, you use your position, you use your angles and footwork. You don't have to go and kill or be killed."

Beibut Shumenov Defeats B.J. Flores

Beibut Shumenov (16-2, 10 KOs) defeated B.J. Flores (31-2-1, 20 KOs) by unanimous decision Saturday night to win a cruiserweight world title.

Shumenov came out aggressive early before using his movement late to earn a world title in a second division and become the first fighter from Kazakhstan to achieve that feat. Flores was competitive throughout the fight, countering effectively when Shumenov showed aggression while landing more power punches.

In the 12th-round Flores wobbled Shumenov on the ropes in the closing seconds, but was unable to earn a knockdown. Shumenov used a strong jab and quick movements to make Flores miss consistently. All three judges scored the fight 116-112.

Well done to Shumenov but how does someone who had only beat the 181 ranked( 37th best CW in USA)get a title shot?. Doubt he lasts long(or loses wide if he opts to get on his bike all fight) if he fights Lebedev.

Hopefully we'll get the chance to find out. But size will be against him.

Posted the above fight summaries to dispel the misguided view of the ESB round by round hyenas that Flores put in a "woeful" performance.

As you will see from the summaries, Flores was "competitive throughout the fight", " out-landed Shumenov 114-104", and "wobbled Shumenov on the ropes in the closing seconds." Far from a woeful performance according to better judges than the ESB hyenas.

Looking forward to watching the fight. By the sounds of it flores was maybe a little ring rusty and didn't pull the trigger. It also sounds like he got fooled by exactly the same game plan that green employed.
I always liked flores but it shits me how he never fights. And wastes good opportunities when he does. Hopefully he gets straight back in there and has some decent opposition to build up from.

It sounds like he wanted to engage but Shumenov boxed and moved and Flores isn't very good at cutting off the ring.

I am keeping an eye out for the fight on the net. But so far no sign. Might take a week or so for someone to upload it.

I'm sure McCracken would love to fight Green. But what would be in it for Green?

Green is not back to get in the world title mix nor does he want a challenge he's back for money. McCracken would be alright but too risky and not enough money.

McCracken is a good honest fighter but would present little risk to Green. The reward would be minimal though and McCracken would not be on Green's radar.

It's a moot point anyway they're good mates.
