Garcia bill on UK tv?

Post by davie »

I can't find if the Garcia vs Malignaggi/Jacobs vs Mora fights are being shown in UK.

Sky and allegedly haven't listed them?

Surely the more international bills on other channels puts allegedly at massive risk? With the decrease in quality of UK shows, allegedly is relying more and more on the international shows.

Sky are picking up a few more than before and BT are now involved.

BT/ESPN involvement is nothing new, they had the old Friday Night Fights cards which is basically what these are its just that those cards have got bigger/better and are PBC promoted only (and moved day)

But the fact they are bigger and better means its a bigger and better show allegedly have missed out on

Agreed mate. It's the point I was making at the start of the year:

http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... =b0xnati0n

I'll give B0xnati0n credit where credit is due. Usually their August schedule is virtually non-existent however this year they've managed to line up 4 international shows, but they are of questionable quality. Boxnati0n subscribers expect the likes of Paul Malignaggi Vs. Danny Garcia, Abner Mares Vs. Leo Santa Cruz and Krzysztof Glowacki Vs. Marco Huck but instead are getting B & C level international shows. The 3 listed fights are taking place in August but are likely to be shown in the UK on BT Sports and Spike TV.

Its a shame. For so long i have avoided paying for it but i have just registered this monrh. But the more i'm seeing of shows on other channels i think they might struggle over the next 2 years if this continues. If the international shows do decrease i wont be a member for long

Danny "I once beat Khan so now I never have to have another decent fight" Garcia versus Paulie, who has won, what, 1 out of his last 3 in the last 3 years (& that was against Zab Judah)?

& Sergio fornicating Mora (SERGIO MORA? Have you seen him fight?) versus Danny "I couldn't beat Pirog but hey, I beat cancer!" Jacobs?

There's actual interest in watching this? Not starting or nuffink, but fornicate me I'd rather reorder my toenail clipping collection, by width.

Garcia v Peterson was a good match up. One I had Peterson winning. Mora vs Jacobs is a decent wee fight. Not a world level fight but a good 'trade' fight.

^ Fair enough mate, I thought Garcia-Peterson (the latter having done nothing since getting obliterated two years before by Mathysse) was an obvious "get a name on the resume" fight that Garcia laboured in, & as I understood it, it was meant to be payback of sorts for Garcia spending two years dicking about fighting absolute nobodies in horrific mismatches (Salka, anyone?). To see Garcia waste yet more time fighting Paulie is... I dunno.

I mean, aesthetically speaking, it's not exactly gonna be a scintillating slugfest filled with drama, is it? At best it's gonna be a horrific beatdown of a shot fighter who should've hung 'em up years ago, at worst it's another dreary Garcia posing match with Paulie scuffling earnestly, followed by loud Malignaggi "I was robbed, I shoulda stood in bed, they're all corrupt" screaming at the judges afterward.

& I'm sorry mate, but I cannot for the life of me understand anyone who'd want to watch Sergio Mora do anything. He couldn't even beat Brian fornicating Vera, & he had two attempts at that. Jacobs is as plastic a beltholder as you can get as well & not exactly a crowd-pleaser, either.

Seriously, it's not a glass half-empty thing, these are shit fights imo. But YMMV.

They were never available for them to pick up, the shows on ESPN in the US and as part of that deal they also control the UK rights, same with the cards on Spike TV.

Your description of Jacobs was harsh but also one of the funniest descriptiona I've ever seen.

Take a bow. Genuinely made me laugh out loud
