I don't consider Monzon boring. He did what he had to do to win, and usually that meant dishing out some big time damage. He had plenty of good fights.Decagon wrote:Carlos Monzon

I don't see that at all. Against Lyle Ali let him wear himself out, against Young it was a strategic boxing match!.... remember that, boxing is a science, this isnt just handbags at dawn after too many shandys in the pub. As for exciting fights, Ali fought Frazier, Norton and Shavers after Zaire.... all of which were more than decent fights, even the first Spinks fight was a pretty good fight to watch... I have to wonder how many of Ali's fights some of you guys have actually seen???...ebeneezer wrote:Ali's fights with Ron Lyle and Jimmy Young are tantamount to torture.
I actually enjoy watching both of these fighters.Decagon wrote:Lennox Lewis
Carlos Monzon
The title fight between Monzon and Briscoe is a very entertaining fight in my opinion.
Again I have to admit at times the defencive wizard was a joy to behold.ebeneezer wrote:Wilfred Benitez..
I enjoyed the two Spinks fights. And the Norton and Shavers fights wern't too bad either.ebeneezer wrote:(With the exception of the 3rd Frazier fight) post 1974 Muhammad Ali.

Tony Galento wasnt a boring fighter but at 244lbs had huge drawers to cover his fat ass.
Theres a story to illustrate this but i dont know how true it is. Apparantly
in 1948, some years after Galento had retired, they were staging a juniors bill at Laural Garden in Newark NJ. In the afternoon they set up the ring but someone forgot the ropes!! Fortunately, a pair of Tony's old drawers were found in the locker room at Laurel. Somehow they managed to stretch the drawers around the four posts of the ring and the event was saved, although the view for the spectators was poor. I'm told that amateur footage exists of the evening. A rather humorous moment being when one of the young guys on the bill uses the elastic of Galento's undergarments to vault into the ring. The slo-mo reveals the boy spinning in the air 12 times before making a perfect landing.

Lennox Lewis is a hideously boring fighter.
His fights with Tua and Tyson was just a pure joke and to think I stayed up at 5 AM to watch Lewis clinch an old disinterested Tyson every second. You could say that Lewis clinched more in the Tyson fight than Ruiz did in the Golota or even the Rahman fight - And they went 12 rounds!
