Cotto vs Canelo negotiations

Post by ikorolev »

Why are they taking so long ? We heard that they were very close a few weeks ago, and there is still no announcement.

Do you think Cotto is playing diva again and/or still hoping to land on Mayweather card ? Will Canelo say "f4ck you" again and fight somebody else ?

Whenever you have two divas negotiating, which is the case here, it won't be easy. Last I heard they were debating about the venue....Cotto wanting MSG, Canelo wanting Vegas.

Canelo would want Texas or California. Vegas is supposed to be a compromise location.

Here is where I got the Vegas vs new York as venue options. GBP prefers Vegas.

Then Canelo already conceded the Texas option, but Cotto still insists on NY. Cotto just wants everything to be his way.

Cotto's the champ. Why shouldn't he get things his way?

If Canelo wants the title, let him come to the champ's house to get it. That's not a radical idea. It usually works that way.

It seems, however, that most believe the fight will take place in Las Vegas, probably on Nov. 21, so nobody has to whine about the other having home-ring advantage. Although I suspect there will be a lot more Mexicans in Las Vegas, then Puerto Ricans.

I don't remember Cotto coming to Argentina to fight the champ Martinez.

I think this would be his 13th or 14th fight in Vegas anyway. Not like it's foreign ground to him.

It looks like they agreed on Vegas:

Both the MGM and MSG are good venues, I've seen Miguel Cotto fight big bouts in both of them.
In New York Cotto will probably have a massive advantage in fan following, Vegas should be Canelo country although the Puerto Ricans where there in force when Cotto fought Margarito so it won't be hostile territory by any means.
Either way it's a fight I'd like to go.

That's because Martinez wanted the big bux that comes with fighting in the U.S. The same reason why all these foreign fighters seem to gravitate and even decide to live here, despite their feigned disenchantment with America.

Bunch of hypocrits.

Now that Kovalev has become Los Angeles based, I'm mulling the thought of moving.

Why hasn't this fight been announced yet? I'm getting some serious doubt that this one will happen now. I knew there would be issues somewhere along the line with these two drama queens. I'm sure Cotto's talking about himself in the 3rd person "Miguel Cotto is the A side. Canelo no A side". Canelo is also talking about himself the same way "why no Cotto take be side, Canelo has the largest following...we fight Texas or not fight at all...ariba!".

This is the real drama show. These guys are probably arguing about bathroom sizes and TP rolls at this point. This fights never happening.
