Joseph Parker and Dillian Whyte

Post by diddy »

What do people think of these 2 potentially stepping into the heavyweight mix down the line? Whyte beat Joshua in the AM's and Parker has been pollaxing cats.

They are apparently lining up Whyte as Joshua's next opponent after Whyte takes cares of the trashman he is fighting.

Would be nice to see one of these guys emerge into the future crop of heavyweights alongside vets Povetkin, Jennings, Fury and of course Wilder and Joshua.

I like watching Parker a lot. Fast hands, good pop, aggressive, and throws in combo at least as well as almost every HW today. He was clearly hurt by that crude Brazilian journeyman though and took some big shots from Sherman Williams that seemed to jar him a bit, so I've seen some defensive issues already and have questions about his chin. All considered I think he at least has potential to be a solid contender and though it's relatively early and untested days I don't think he's out of place in discussions about possible future champs, though I doubt he'll become a force in the division and I don't rate him as highly as Joshua.

Whyte looks to have potential, but he's been fighting such weak opposition that I don't yet have a strong sense of what his level will be.

Parker is a very exciting prospect and is going from strength to strength. It will be interesting to see how he handles the power of Bowie Tupou on Saturday. Parker probably still tends to get hit a little more often than he should and if he fails to see one of Tupou's overhand rights coming it could be a bad night for him.

Haven't seen much of Dillian Whyte. Will look up some of his fights.

Wlad Klitschko has commented in an interview with the BBC that Anthony Joshua is the most promising fighter that he's ever seen. Said during his 25 years in boxing, Anthony Joshua is the one boxer he's seen who is "capable of being a really big star".

Neither is going to trouble Joshua. But both have promise Parker needs to get out of Australasia to get decent sparring and fights as for Whyte he will lose to Joshua but given his inexperience can come again.

Parker looks good. I don't think Whyte is going anywhere. Maybe a future fringe contender.

Parker is based in Las Vegas when hes not fighting in NZ. His stable mate is 12-0 Izu (forget who to spell his last name) Polish Heavyweight fringe contender and I say fringe as hes 12-0 and not really fought anyone other than BIG journeyman Julius Long. He does look to have some ability though.

Parker has been seen in camp with Stiverne amongst other notable heavys in the US including a week or so in Klitschkos camp before he fought Jennings. So he is being exposed to some pretty handy heavyweight action in training.

I just watched Dillian Whyte pres conference and I have to admit he looks very confident, much more then I expected. He even put Eddie in his place few times. Whyte v Joshia build up should be tense. I think his record is shite but he looks better then his record. How much better though that we will have to see when he faces Joshua.

Parker is a bona fide prospect with great potential. At this moment I would favor AJ to go further but you simply cant tell for sure at this early stage.

I initially thought Parker KTFO'd Tupou and wrote a post about it, but upon viewing the slow-motion replays I'm not even sure if he landed the 'finishing' punches?

Is this a legit KO or not?
