I think they would favor Kovalev a bit, due to size.

50/50 I reckon.

My money will be on Ward. I still think he's unbeatable at SM or LH.

Ward lacks that monogrel aggression.
Kovalev has it in abundance.
Both have never really been in deep water so no knowing there chins and recovery.
It really is 50/50 and is skill vs power. Will ward box rings round him or will he wilt from the power Kovalev.
If it happens I will be one happy man :bag:

I have been thinking about this and believe Ward would be a short favorite.

Me too, only just.

Think about it, Ward has faced some very good fighters, and made them look pretty ordinary, Froch he made look very one dimensional, and not only that, when it came to playing rough and physical in the exchanges, won them with ease. Nobody else came close to doing that. Taylor outboxed him, but ultimately Froch was able to finally impose himself - Dirrell essentiall just ran like a thief and threw himself to the floor over and over again.

It takes a special fighter to do that to Froch, and I believe Ward will find a way to win against Kovalev, whether that means winning ugly or whatever it takes. Of course, I could well be wrong, but I think Ward at 175 is still going to physically strong enough to compete.

That seems about right. Of course saying it is one thing and doing another. I would say it would be quite an accomplishment for anyone to beat kovalv right now?

My educated guess...Ward -140, Kovalev +110.

I feel like it might be closer than that, just on the suspicion that the books will expect more money to go on Kovalev in the early running. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sergey open as favourite, which in my opinion he should be.

I’d make Ward the favourite too. Kov is going to have to land some flush shots to make it work and so far that’s not been happening. There’s not much in it on reach. Ward is quicker. And he’s at home.

Ward is almost never in the danger zone. He will land flush and he will use his head in close.

If Kov gets his timing right and is able to land even on a 2:3 ratio then he wins. I am certain of that. But I just don’t see him doing it..

I always cheer for whoever Ward is facing. This would be no different.

That's a 66% connect ratio, I think he'd do well to land 30% and with a high volume of pressure can win the fight.
