Meli Vs Pagan scoring in Belfast

Post by ppb »

Both corners telling their boxers that it's all to fight for in the last round. No one at ringside could split them. Best fight that I've witnessed in a long time. Yet referee John Lowe has it 80/73 to Meli???? This is why we've to bring foreigners in because very rarely will anyone with ambition take a chance away from home.

I get really annoyed with this type of thing. If this fight was as close as you are suggesting then the referee is either incompetent or corrupt.
But we need several others at the show to see it your way though. There is nothing to stop a manager writing to the Area Council and asking for the view of the steward in charge.
Remember you can have a fight where every round is close but the winner is recorded as a shut out winner ie 80-72. In other words the winner just edged every round.

I was ringside and it was a close fight. John Lowey got the scoring wrong in my opinion. Pagan got a point deducted so 80-73 gave him a share of two rounds? No way.

Hi sorry. Just logging back in now. I had it to Meli by about 2 or 3 points but wasn't scoring it to the letter. Good fight though.

You've got to like Rhys Pagan's attitude!! He is willing to fight anyone anytime but at the end of the day we all know that going over into the favourites back yard means it is always tougher to get the win. If Rhys keeps at it I'm sure he will take another of these opportunities and get the decision and the chance to move up the rankings!
