Race to the Title: Joseph Parker or Anthony Joshua?
After Parker's big win tonight, who do you see as the more impressive prospect?

Joshua by a long way.
I can see him being the next dominating heavy after Wlad quits.

I can't even vote on this poll, because I don't honestly know, and I doubt anyone does. Joshua must have more clout right now (he's already no.2 WBC), so he's a favourite to get the first shot at Wilder/Povetkin. This gives him the inside running. I think they'd both be foolish to go anywhere near Klitschko for a couple of years. The magic of their future bout is that we don't know how good their chins are. It would be fantastic if they both had great chins and had some all time classic fights. We can dream
(edit) lol - I just voted Joshua. Only because the question is who will be the first, not "only" heavyweight champ

Big win? I only saw that he beat Bowie Tupou. When was his big win, after that? Who against? Two fights in the same night would be impressive.

Before we get carried away here let's see them fight the Eastern Euro's first. The Eastern Euro's are the gatekeepers and at the top of the HW division. Until you go trough and fight them all your fights mean nothing.

If Joshua answers the chin and stamina questions, I personally think he'll be close to unstoppable.

Joshua will get there first. Parker doesnt have the same backing so will take a little more time.danamba7 wrote:If Joshua answers the chin and stamina questions, I personally think he'll be close to unstoppable.
Re: Race to the Title: Joseph Parker or Anthony Joshua?
Joshua is more advanced, so he will become champion first.
Who is better? I have no freaking idea!![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Joseph Parker isn't smallish - in my book he's a big heavyweight - 6'4" and 230lb+ with low body fat. Put another way, minus an inch of height, he's the same size as a young Lennox Lewis or Riddick Bowe - albeit with a shorter reach.
Re: Race to the Title: Joseph Parker or Anthony Joshua?
He is two inches taller and 5lb heavier than Povetkin - and if Wlad wasn't on the scene, Povetkin would own the division.RandomUsername wrote:Good question. This kid is good sure, all boxers have flaws but some are exceptional, if this guy was Fury's size then with his skills maybe he could become champion but this guy isn't some heavyweight RJJR/SSM/FMJR or anything of the sort, he's just a good smallish basic heavyweight and these days they don't become champion. Unless you count Deontay Wilder as being the champ.Cutman Scabbers wrote:RandomUsername wrote:The New Zealand guy isn't bad but honestly I don't think that he'll ever even make it to a title fight.

Based on natural size, he's more like 20lb heavier than Povetkin, who would weight perhaps 215lb in top shape.
Re: Race to the Title: Joseph Parker or Anthony Joshua?
Parker has done nothing so far. At least Joshua has his gold medal to vouch for his skills in a tournament that Parker failed to even qualify for. Parker needs to away from fighting in New Zealand and onto some US cards. I'm not at all convinced yet. Big fish in a small pond in New Zealand. Let's see how he does against somebody like Lucas Browne before we start talking about him as a title contender.

Well, if you put it that way, what has Joshua done as a pro that Parker hasn't?johnswan1 wrote:Parker has done nothing so far. I'd say that Povetkin is the second best heavy at the momentRandomUsername wrote:What a weak division he would own. And no he wouldn't.Gnome wrote: He is two inches taller and 5lb heavier than Povetkin - and if Wlad wasn't on the scene, Povetkin would own the division.

By the time both Parker and Joshua are fully grown they will be about the same size, Parker is only 22 remember plenty of growing left.RandomUsername wrote:Good question. Good point. Seems that Parker is faster (overall quickness, hand speed, etc.) than Joshua too?Sids wrote:By the time both Parker and Joshua are fully grown they will be about the same size, Parker is only 22 remember plenty of growing left.RandomUsername wrote:Good question. Wouldn't say so. Joshua throws some very fast combos for a big man. Would be great to see them 2 go at it early on in their careers but wont happen until they're both at the top (if they get there).Cutman Scabbers wrote: Good point. Re: Race to the Title: Joseph Parker or Anthony Joshua?
I think Parker has faster hands than Joshua. I've noticed talk of Joshua having impressive speed but I'm not really seeing it....
