He isn't as blown up as you think, his head has swollen up but he is still ticking over in the gym and over a 10/12 week camp with his team he gets into the right shape.

10-12 weeks leaves 17th - 31st October as the date for the fight
I was about to comment on his weight. He looked like middle might be a struggle to get to on saturday night!

Yeah seems to be the new Ricky Hatton in the weight department. Always looks in supreme shape come fight night though.

He looked in much better shape on Saturday than he did in Manchester 2 weeks ago so he's clearly back in the gym.

I'll be very surrpised if it isn't Chaves.

They often have a merry-go-round of the same old fighters in mandatorys and eliminators.

I remember the turds that Hatton being lined up to face after he won the IBF - people like Ben Rabah - and in the end he vacated it, and I couldn't blame him.
That's the thing with the IBF---I like that they seem to order box-offs to determine challengers more than the other major organizations do, but the problem is that they reuse the same fighters when others should be in their place.

That's how we got the the South African circle jerk at 130 a few years ago.

Marquez - Would be a great name on Kell's record and is a very winnable fight at this stage of Marquez's career. Slim chance of it happening though. Think Marquez will have a farewell fight in Mexico and call it a day.

Maidana - I've heard Hearn mention Maidana as an opponent a few times and they seem pretty confident of getting the win. Maidana is a genuine dangerman for anybody in the weight class though. Huge puncher who always brings it. Out of the opponents mentioned this probably has the most chance of happening.

Thurman - Genuine 50/50 fight, which is why it has very little chance of happening. I'd maybe give Brook a slight edge. He's very smooth and calculated with his shots. Thurman is probably just as quick but very erratic and skittish, especially when under pressure. Was clearly hurt to the body in his last fight too, which was telling.

Bradley - Another 50/50 in my opinion. Due to Bradley's up and down performances in some of his bigger fights I think he's a bit underrated. But on his day he can be very effective and has a great engine. Can't see this one happening.

Agree about Maidana. Khan was terrific in his fight with him, but he took some shellacking.

Would I be correct in thinking that Maidana was given a rematch with Mayweather? If so he must be absolutely minted! :OhYes:

Regarding Thurman I just don't see someone as clearly strong, composed, or clued-up on boxing as Brook coming unstuck. Short of landing a lucky punch, Thurman gets knocked out there.

despite the fact there's probably about 5-10 guys that could generate interest in the Welterweight world title, I'd say the odds on Brook vs. Khan, with the winner to face Mayweather - i.e. what we'd all like to see are about 1,000,000 - 1. Or greater.

What have you seen in Thurman to suggest he would need to land a lucky punch to win? Or that he would get knocked out by Brook?

Thurman looks better in stills and in print to me than he does on film. Admittedly I haven't seen that much of him, but Brook is the more polished fighter. He also seems to have superb physicalities that mean he is strong in the ring. If he can go to America and strip Porter, that also is a sign of someone who can get things done. Brook seems to pass hurdles when he comes to them.

I am a big fan of Brook, think he has an awful lot of talent and possibly the best jab in boxing currently. BUT, and it is quite a big but, I think there is some serious jumping the gun (potentially) here. I'm sorry, but his two title defences have been, in my opinion, against two fighters who are borderline worthy of challenging for the world title.

The only true top tenner he has faced was Shawn Porter, who himself was/is not the most tested at this level, and this was a relatively close fight. People might think Schevchenko was a top ten at the time of their fight - but that was based on his close win over a fighter who hadn't fought in 3 years and was never a Welterweight.

I still think there is a bit of a question mark over the genuine top top guys in the division. Before making predictions against the likes of Thurman, I would like to see how good he looks against the likes of Alexander, Maidana, Guerrero, Chaves (e.g. That "Shawn Porter" level a bit more consistently) before making rather bolder predictions against the likes of Thurman, Bradley, Pac and Floyd.

Looking great against Dan Dan and Gavin is one thing, but there is at least one level between these two and the top 4/5 in the devision that Brook has only fought once in.

Shevchenko hasn't been top class for a while, not since his Milan days. Couldn't hack it in the prem could he!

Why would I have done that? :-?

I stated that I felt sorry for him because he is now a 'champion', yet he can't get any big fights.

Khan can't be bothered fighting him; Mayweather Jr can't see enough $$$ next to Brook's name, so that road is closed to him & to add insult to more insult, the IBF feed him No No Dan as a mandatory.

On second thoughts, maybe he should duck his mandatories, if the likes of No No Dan are the quality of contender that a so-called world championship organisation are feeding to him.

The belt is pretty meaningless whilst Floyd Mayweather Jr is still living, breathing, unbeaten & fighting, so he might be better off dropping the belt & going after the big boys & boosting his profile that way.

'His head has swollen up'? Like on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? They better get some oompah loompahs to squeeze it back down.

Brook vs Mosley? No thanks. I've got no interest in watching a soon to be 44 year old get sparked out within 3 rounds.

Fighting October 24th and December 12th according to Hearn's twitter, likely to be Chaves and Kevin Bizier, both on PPV. If Donaire comes over to fight Quigg on November 21st they'll probably try and do that as a PPV too.

October 24th with Fury-Klitschko and Brook is as good as confirmed and they're trying to build Joshua-Whyte as a PPV on December 12th, Brook fighting on that should guarantee PPV. November might not happen though, Perez-Crolla II and Quigg-TBA isn't a PPV even by Matchroom standards, but if Quigg fights Donaire on that show I can't see how they could afford to get him over without PPV.

Either him or Frederick Lawson, Khan, Bradley, Alexander, Chaves and Gavin have all passed on the eliminator at some point so one of those two will be Brook's mandatory.

Got a feeling Bizier might stay at light-middle looks like he can't do welter anymore not even for a title.

He's already accepted the eliminator, don't think there's any weight issues with him, just that he doesn't bother making 10st 7 if it isn't a 12 rounder.
