Deontay Wilder offered Hughie Fury his Sept 26 fight
Re: Deontay Wilder offered Hughie Fury his Sept 26 fight
I'm struggling to get my head around this. What's the fiddle?
Re: Deontay Wilder offered Hughie Fury his Sept 26 fight
I think the fiddle is that it simple wont happen. I part of me hopes it does, however, a part hopes it doesnt.Sklar wrote:I'm struggling to get my head around this. What's the fiddle?
Hughie Fury is only 20, and not a Mike Tyson 20 either, who got his man strenght quite early on... Hughie wont get his man strenght till about 27/28, you can just tell.
Will be interesting to see how this transpires!

I hope it doesn't, Hughie could get the shite kicked out of him. Wilder might be great, but he sure can punch, and Hughie hasn't the experience to deal with Wilder - of course, there's always a chance he is good enough to outbox him, but that's tempered with the risks he is taking of getting badly done over, and perhaps psychologically ruined.PokerRob wrote:I think the fiddle is that it simple wont happen. Re: Deontay Wilder offered Hughie Fury his Sept 26 fight
I think Hughie's power could be underated,he seemed to look strong early on in his career in his first few fights but has adopted a more tactical approach where he isnt sitting down on his shots and is constantly moving, even Iron Mike wouldnt KO people being on his toes the way Fury the Younger is
I'm not saying he's the next George Foreman but his movement is so constant that its near impossible to get purchase on his shots,im sure its something that will improve with age and experience,
The main concern for me with his style isnt the fact he seems to lack power, its the fact that he can be portrayed as being negative and that will/could sway judges and lose fans
I like the fact that some one so young can choose to box that way though,it shows maturity and composure and he might be one for the purists, and goes against everything they say about travellers/fighting men etc and you've got to give his dad credit for that
As for beating Wilder, maybe its too soon but it wouldnt be the worst shock id ever seen when i break down their styles

Bizarre fight if it goes ahead. Is Del Boy considered too dangerous for Wilder?

In days of old, this would be a non title fight - as Fury's rated at something like 30th by the WBC. They should have a spine and not sanction it.
I still think it will be a good fight and pretty competitive while it lasts. I do think Wilder is underrated on here though.

Seems like they might have a spine after all... Read the bottom of the article...keithmoonhangover wrote:In days of old, this would be a non title fight - as Fury's rated at something like 30th by the WBC. They should have a spine and not sanction it.
