Khan's next outing
So now it appears that Mayweather will fight berto on free to air tv (in the states anyway), he's surely going to try and hit the 50-0 mark next year.
Can anyone see khan doing anything until next may in the hope he is the chosen one? Another wasted year would be a joke

No he won't wait cause pac will get that one if it happens
Is berto even gonna happen.. 5 weeks to go.. Fake injury looming in my book ... Don't think showtime will accept him hence the delay in announcement

Re: Khan's next outing
My question now is why is Khan waiting, because he thinks he can win or wants a big payday and out. I certainly don't buy he won't fight Brook for anything other than he doesn't want to lose this big fight.

Re: Khan's next outing
I'm not sure that will be the case now. Prior to brook getting his title, he got a pass as he could say he was positioning himself for a title. Khan has just had keep busy fights (bar Alexander) while hoping for mayweather.sweetscience wrote:Brook won't happen till may / June due to weather / stadium

If they don't face a challenge before next summer they both deserve stick on here (not personal!)

I can see him on a PBC card later in the year against someone he should beat.
I do feel sorry for Khan. He deserved his shot at Floyd.

Re: Khan's next outing
Khan will no doubt look for another soft opponent in the hope that he can land a shot at Floyd next year. Expect him to fight one of the following:
Rios
Chaves
Vargas
Bundu
Guerrero
If not Brook/Manny/Floyd I wouldn't mind seeing him in with Bradley/Broner/Porter/Maidana.

Re: Khan's next outing
i would've like to see Khan fight Mayweather but I really don't feel sorry for him now
hes made himself look a clown by wating around for this fight for few years claiming its a done deal , then claiming no one knows what Floyd will do not even Al Haymon, I saw him on sky sports last night and Referred to himself in the 3rd person about ten times and how Amir Khan Brings this and that to the world.
hes Great to watch as a fighter but needs to get in with Brook , Thurman or Garcia although he claims all of the Guys that beat him refuse to fight him so that rules Garcia out then.
there's great fights at welterweight but seems to be top guys just pick the leftovers that Mayweather or Pacquio leave due to them now being a name or guys who used to be a name , Collazo , Rios , Peterson , Algeri , Mallanaggi - guys who effectively are very unlikely to cause any upset.
would love to see any of the below fight each other
Thurman
Khan
Garcia
Brook

Re: Khan's next outing
In fairness to Brook, genuinely believe he wants a better standard of opponent but finding it difficult to make the fights due to Matchrooms lack of clout across the pond. Chaves would be ok (but not great)sweetscience wrote:Brook won't happen till may / June due to weather / stadium

Khan ... Fairly sure Al Haymon could make any fight Khan wanted, but he's not seemed interested in a long while now. Playing the game.. waiting for the big one.
Brook v Khan is a natural fight NOW. Plenty of interest NOW. Its only Khan who doesn't want it.

I can see Khan point of view about Brook fighting bums and getting his dream fight.... khans been fighting a better standard of opponents and still not got his dream fight
Brook should just fight 1 more A lister... then there is NO ARGUMENT left

Since then he's beat Collazo, Alexander and Algieri at 147. Not exactly setting the world alight but deserves the shot more than Berto!

Alexander is a good win but the others are not. Since getting smashed by Garcia he has got himself to fringe contender at welterweight and not one of the main men at the weight.danamba7 wrote:Pugilist-specialist wrote:He deserves his shot by getting smashed by Garcia?PredatorHayds wrote:I can see him on a PBC card later in the year against someone he should beat.

It may not personally be Khan's fault but it is the fault of the team around him. Why did they think that the level of opposition was good enough, why were they happy to sit around and wait, what did they think they brought to the table for Mayweather.
The answers to those seem to be No, stupidity and nothing.

He deserved the shot ever since Mayweather did the Maidana- Khan poll. Khan won but still ended up being Maidana (twice).Pugilist-specialist wrote:He deserves his shot by getting smashed by Garcia?PredatorHayds wrote:I can see him on a PBC card later in the year against someone he should beat.

No, but what was the point of Mayweather's poll if he was never going to pick Khan anyway? And the fact that Mayweather chose Maidana does indicate that Floyd acknowledges Khan would pose him some problems imo.freddydoesdallas wrote:So social media is now more important than in-ring performance?PredatorHayds wrote: He deserved the shot ever since Mayweather did the Maidana- Khan poll. I'd say no. Khan has been impressive at WW with some good wins.
Garcia has only had the Malinaggi fight at WW so against Floyd at WW I'd say Khan was more qualified.

I'm sure Maidana's win over broner had nothing to do with it and Khan's win over diaz in the same year was comparable

Re: Khan's next outing
I doubt the relative levels of opposition had much of an influence on the decision - otherwise Guerrero, Ortiz or Berto wouldn't have been anywhere near a shot at Floyd.freddydoesdallas wrote:Same thing as always with mayweather, seld-promotion.Boxerbeetle wrote:

Re: Khan's next outing
It's only since Khan started obsessing about the Mayweather fight that he began annoying me,its become embarrassing and its affected his progress, especially passing up on the world title fight against Alexander, you'd have thought he'd learn his lesson but no he kept going and going, now Floyd announced he'll be fighting Berto you would hope Amir would just give up

Khan's best win at WW is Alexander (who lost to Porter). Does this make him more qualified than any other welterweight to box Mayweather?PredatorHayds wrote: I'd say no. Khan has been impressive at WW with some good wins.
