Corrie Sanders vrs Mike Dixon(1992)

Post by Caractacus »

Thought I would link to one of "The Sniper' fights
(his 15th pro fight) .
I dont think Ive seen it since it first aired live on HBO back in May 1992.
(the preliminary to the Terry Norris vrs Meldrick Taylor superwelterfight bout)

Typical Sanders...quick hands, nice movement amd making things looks easy against lesser opponents.
Classic Transvaal big 'tache as well...pretty much obligatory for a big South African heavyweight of that era

Too bad Sanders wasnt able to finish him off at the end of round three.
I think Corrie Sanders could have been heavyweight champion in 1989 if he was given a title shot.

Check this out,
real early Corrie Sanders, Sanders vrs Samson Mahlangu in September 1989.
It was only his 5th professional fight.
This was shown on th same USA Tuesday Night Fights show
as the George Foreman vrs Everett "Bigfoot" Martin bout
(notice Sanders is a lot more flat-footed fighting here then in his later fights).

You know(IMOP) its too bad that Tyson's camp didnt pick a more worthy opponent for Mike Tyson to fight
in his comeback back in August 1995.
But if they had this is how it probably would have turned out .
(no wonder they didnt put Sanders as a possible opponent)
check this out.
