Briggs v Marrone

Post by Gnome »

Shannon Briggs is fighting against Michael Marrone in Florida next month.

I really didn't see this fight coming.

Marrone has struggled of late, losing when stepping up (including an inexplicable shot at the WBA Cruiserweight title against Guillermo Jones and only managing a split decision against 10-11 Robert Dunton (who went on to lose in the first minute against Joey Dawejko).

Thoughts on this fight? Marrone will be a massive underdog, but he IS a better fighter than Briggs' recent opponents.

Marrone is another soft opponent for Briggs.

If Briggs is serious about getting a title shot, he should take on a decent ranked contender (Jennings, Takam, Teper, Browne, etc. )

Briggs is more fun at a press conference than in the ring at the moment.
He seems to be the type of opponent Wilder could face in the future (before Povetkin)
