Degale - Bute in October!

Post by Maxime »

According to Bute's promoter.

If Bute wins this saturday. There is a big chance he'll get a title shot against Degale on October 31st in Quebec City.

Surely Degale won't take this on Bute's home patch.

He doesn't care who or where he fights, his aim was to be the first Olympic gold medallist to win a world title from here. Its all about the money now as you can tell by signing up with Haymon.

More of a case of him not being a big enough draw on his home turf to be able to raise the purse necessary to get more established names to fight him in the UK. If DeGale was from anywhere outside of London he'd have a bigger following than he does. If you come from anywhere else you're representing that area so people get behind you. James is in London but isn't really representing London as it's full of successful sportspeople. He's in a bit of a no mans land, a bit of an identity crisis. People didn't like his arrogant attitude from earlier in his career and wanted to see Groves smash him up when they fought in their novice days. It's only now he's getting genuine appreciation from UK boxing fans, but not quite enough yet to headline big shows on his own.

Bute is done.

DeGale will wash him wherever a fight takes place.

Nah all Matchroom need to do is put on a deep card and put it on PPV. Its not just DeGale going over, Selby has too and he could sell a few in Wales to bring in a good opponent, Frampton sold out and went with Al, Eddie said more of his fighters could sign up too. Haymon's getting guys from everywhere.

The Bute who won 2-3 rounds out of 12 against Pascal doesn't have much of a chance, especially considering that Degale seems to have a respectable chin. This would've been a very good match-up with the pre-Froch version of Bute, who while perhaps never elite still fought with confidence.

His name would still look nice on JD's resume though, and I think he's that type of record flattering opponent now.

Honestly think he won't care about that, all the fanfare is probably a big buzz for a boxer but when looking back on your career its the achievements that count, would you rather fight at home in front of 80,000 and lose or win the title in the champs backyard in the states ? he's ticked a lot of boxes off the list already- Olympic gold and pro world champ and he's willing to travel to get the fights, quite refreshing really.

Bute needs to stick to fighting the Andre De Luisa's of the world bc he's absolutely done at the top level. He barely even beat Grachev. That's how far gone he is. And that was years ago.

Does De Luisa get DeGale if he defeats Bute?

let DeGale go over there and roll straight through Bute in similar style to how Froch did it.
it'll enhance his profile internationally and give him more options in North America as well as Europe.

For this fight to happen Bute needs to look good on Saturday.
Bute hasn't looked good in a while so I presume this is just promoter talk to hype up the fight this weekend.

I like James but I have to say he gave me the jitters the way he took so many rounds off against Andre Dirrell, he made the fight a lot closer than it could have been and let a KO opportunity pass him by.
Yes he got the win but he might want to be careful of that in the future.
DeGale should beat Bute but like I've previously mentioned, rack up enough points before coasting.

Bute is way past it. Degale takes this easily now.
