Fury v Klitschko
Re: Fury v Klitschko
Yeah I can't see Tyson being able to stay away from Wlads jab. It's so effective. I can see Wlad cutting him up with the jab for the majority of the first few rounds, Tyson losing the plot, trying something wild and getting caught flush. Game over. Hope I'm wrong as I'd love to see Fury win.
Re: Fury v Klitschko
Fury has turned out to be a lot better than I ever expected him to be, but he should still come up short against Klitschko. If he had more power and a better chin I'd give him more of a shot but the combination of these things will be his downfall, not just against Wlad, but at the very top level.
It would be great for the sport (and a little bit embarrassing at the same time) if Fury did win, but I just don't see any way of that happening other than Wlad incurring a freak injury during the bout (like tripping over an unconscious Fury as he falls).
The fight itself should be a great spectacle with two big men in action and Wlad being the smaller of the two. The great thing for Tyson in all of this is that he's in a win/win situation provided he's not on the receiving end of a career ending beating or serious concussion.
Win and he's the champion of the world. Lose and he can still battle it out with the others to be the heir to the throne for when Wlad retires, presumably in the next couple of years. Either way he will have boosted his profile significantly.

That was pure poetry.thecrab wrote:Fury might struggle here.
Boxes with his head 'up' too much for me.
Klink will pick it off i say.
But Fury can hit and Klink can shown he can be hurt
Fury will be too exposed against a boxer of similar height.
That can hit hard

I do like Fury as a personality but he's not really done that anything special in that i wouldn't have really expected him to do it. Possibly the first Chisora fight but then Del Boy was poor.
Re: Fury v Klitschko
After stealing a decision from McDermott the first time around I wasn't the only one who thought he'd be average British level at best. Since then he's dominated every opponent he's been in with. Ok, his level of opposition hasn't been elite, but Chisora is a pretty good gage who himself was in with the likes of Vitali K, Scott & Helenius and performed well. He didn't get a look in against Tyson.freddydoesdallas wrote: Really? What were you expecting from him?

I hope Fury wins and am pretty confident he will give Wlad a good fight but as said above the lack of knockout power and Wlads superior speed and skill should see him through. Wlad is easily the best heavy in the world currently and he may well retire without losing again. Joshua looks the only serious potential threat to his crown.

Not having a go just wondering how far you thought he might be able to go. McDermott was definitely an eye opener for everyone to drag down expectations but i still don't think he's done anything above what was expected yet. He became 'world class' through not fighting Haye twice. The rest of his career is pretty much just around the standard you expected, in my view anyway.johnswan1 wrote:After stealing a decision from McDermott the first time around I wasn't the only one who thought he'd be average British level at best. Povetkin, Wach, Whyte, Wilder, Spilzka. Is Joshua better than any of them? He has still got it all to prove.rm1 wrote:I hope Fury wins and am pretty confident he will give Wlad a good fight but as said above the lack of knockout power and Wlads superior speed and skill should see him through. Re: Fury v Klitschko
He is unproven at the highest professional level but looks a the main long term threat to Klitschko, and the best of those Povetkin has already lost to Wladimir.samwbr wrote:Povetkin, Wach, Whyte, Wilder, Spilzka. Got a feeling Fury will get caught in the first 2 rounds, if he can make it to the 5th might be interesting.

Re: Fury v Klitschko
The times Wlad has lost, aside from Sanders, has been a stamina issue, I agree, that Fury's best, perhaps only chance, is to fight at a high enough pace, to pressure Wlad, but to do that, he has to avoid getting caught.Glass Joe wrote:Got a feeling Fury will get caught in the first 2 rounds, if he can make it to the 5th might be interesting.
If Wlad catches him with a right cross, it will be game over, no way will Fury be able to stand up to Wlad's power punches. In close, he will need to watch out for the short left hook, which is actually Wlad's power shot, he doesn't uncork it often, but when he does, it's a fight ender.
Re: Fury v Klitschko
I agree with the above Fury doesn't hit hard enough and Wlad does. Its an odd fact that all the traveller fighters I am aware of lack power namely Hughie and Tyson Fury and Bilie Jo, Tom Little etc

Probably poor technique learnt on the camps. A lot of them learnt their trade fighting each other before they took up proper boxing.rm1 wrote:I agree with the above Fury doesn't hit hard enough and Wlad does. Henry Wharton knocked people clean out in the juniors, which is very rare. And he learnt in proper boxing clubs, whilst living on a site. If there was a feud on, his brothers would sort it and deliberately keep him out of it.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Probably poor technique learnt on the camps. I'm not sure Tyson was ever involved in any camp fights or not. Anyone here heard any stories about that kind of Malarkey?
Re: Fury v Klitschko
Hosea Burton may be an exception too although his record is not full of knockouts. Andy Lee too.

He's probably had a few, at weddings and funerals, as you do, but Tyson has been groomed for the top from a very young age. He grew up mainly in an expensive house, his Uncle Peter didn't live on a site, he owned it, with houses in the South of France and Belgium... And people say they're thick...

Fighting at weddings and funerals? fornicating hell I couldn't think of any less appropriate events for which to have a punch up at.mickey1975 wrote:He's probably had a few, at weddings and funerals, as you do, but Tyson has been groomed for the top from a very young age. Edit: What about children's birthday parties?

Peter Fury clearly isn't thick although some of the others maybe they are all poorly educated though which is not the same thing.mickey1975 wrote:He's probably had a few, at weddings and funerals, as you do, but Tyson has been groomed for the top from a very young age. Re: Fury v Klitschko
One of them killed someone at a funeral... Loads got time. It always goes wrong at weddings. Funerals are worse, they sit up for 24 hours the night before, drinking, and there might be hundreds there, and all end up fighting about 2.00am! The rematch takes place after the funeral, drinks and buffet... That's what's happened at every one I've ever been to. Kids parties are off limits, although I took my lad to one where the birthday boy was banned from the ballpool for hitting another kid. He should've known better at 6...,johnswan1 wrote:Fighting at weddings and funerals? effing hell I couldn't think of any less appropriate events for which to have a punch up at.mickey1975 wrote:He's probably had a few, at weddings and funerals, as you do, but Tyson has been groomed for the top from a very young age. Absolutely being rich does not require education or brains but having either or both helps.mickey1975 wrote:Some of the richest people I know can't even spell.rm1 wrote:Peter Fury clearly isn't thick although some of the others maybe they are all poorly educated though which is not the same thing.mickey1975 wrote:He's probably had a few, at weddings and funerals, as you do, but Tyson has been groomed for the top from a very young age. Making money, like any life skill, requires smarts. I'm a pretty clever dude, but never been very good at making money, whereas some other of my friends with far less intellectual prowess are rolling in it. Such is life.
I console myself with being hung like a whale.
