I'd rather have love than hate, how much you hate Floyd Mayweather Jr is on another level. It's stronger than the KKK and Skinheads and any Nazi piece of sh*t all put together. An unstoppable and pathetic force. It's an unreasonable and immovable object by a heartless idiot at that.

It's amazing, and somewhat pathetic, how much hatred a fighter like Mayweather engenders.
The guy is one of history's greatest (The Colonel, Bob Sheridan, has opined that Floyd is the best, bar none) and you people feel comfortable deriding him like he's a tomato can.
He's only cleaned out a generation of foes in 4 different weight divisions, and has also handled two pretty fair 154 lb. opponents.
Quit ripping him, acknowledge his greatness (its been proven repeatedly) and just enjoy what might be his final virtuoso performance on Sept. 12.
You don't have to be a Mayweather fanboy to hold my view. You simply have to be someone who recognizes and appreciates all-around boxing skill.

Do you even understand what the word objective means?
Go ahead and fetch the definition for us. After that go read your own posts for the opposite of that definition.

Tell us about it, or is it that you just get a kick out of trolling behind me just to try and start some sh*t that is not boxing related??Tanzio wrote:The evidence is sprawled like a cheap slut all over CS, turB.

Why did it bother you so much that I agreed with someone who was objective? Why do you constantly and consistently follow me from thread to thread just to be insulting me?
Are you obsessed with me?

The problem is that none of that feels like what actually happened...SenorPipino wrote:It's amazing, and somewhat pathetic, how much hatred a fighter like Mayweather engenders.

It seems to me like those two 154 guys were actually a 152 guy and Oscar who was not natural at the weight...grew into it...and had just one fight in 3 years before Floyd...and then it was a split decision.
There's no doubt he had a great career at 130 and 135 but for the guy claiming to be P4P number 1 the last 7 years have been extremely underwhelming. And it's not just that the opponents weren't there. They were.
Here's the other thing. He fights who he chooses. Number one contenders etc mean nothing. You can't beat a path to his door like contenders could with Hagler or Leonard or Monzon or Louis... Floyd just retires or picks a name he can sell who is past their best or out of their weight division.
He's campaigned at 147 for about 10 years now but the only natural 147ers he's faced have been Baldomir and Ortiz which just about says it all.
This isn't to say he isn't a fantastic fighter. But for me...
the great poet E.E. Cummings said it best in "I Sing Of Olaf"
Olaf (upon what were once knees)
does almost ceaselessly repeat
"there is some shit I will not eat"

People who are not objective wouldn't allow themselves to say that Floyd should be 48-1, that Zab knocked him down legitimately, that he shouldn't have made drug testing an issue in facing any fighter.Impractical Poster wrote: Dude, please. Do you even know what being objective means?
So if that's not what being objective or objective enough for you and Tanzio then you both can kiss my black ass.

I think the average Floyd fan is more knowledgeable about boxing than the average Manny ... simply because it takes more patience/boxing IQ to appreciate Floyd. You can take an alien to a Manny fight and it'll be entertained.
That being said, there are obviously "Manny beats SRR idiots" and "anyone who buys TMT merchandise" ... the idiots in the debate.
Back to the topic ... I've always argued if you demand top dollar and attention, you are required to fight one of the best available opponents.
However, that logic only seems to get applied to Floyd. On this very forum, people have defended fighters like Froch and JMM, who have not fought a harder schedule than Floyd, But whatever.

Floyd is always the exception to the rule for those who hate him, nothing new here, just the same old double standard.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:I think the average Floyd fan is more knowledgeable about boxing than the average Manny ... simply because it takes more patience/boxing IQ to appreciate Floyd. Re: Floyd vs Berto now official
How did you get double standards kbb, every floyd fan bagged pacquaio for fighting algieri and wriefully so and many pacquaio fans were against that fight as well but nearly all floyd fans on here are defending floyd for the berto fight with the exception of you, you can't make strawberry jam out of shite, as I've said he should be fighting GGG, all the fans are saying that's unfair,he fought Canelo who is bigger and floyd didn't mind the size difference when he fought JMM and came in 1.2kg heavy, if GGG can make 154 the fight should have been made
Re: Floyd vs Berto now official
A bit of funny, but true trivia for those still crying about Floyd vs Berto......he has the same record as Pac for his last 6 fights.
Re: Floyd vs Berto now official
Bit of funny trivia, you husker are one of those fans I'm referring to, who fought the better opposition
Re: Floyd vs Berto now official
Here's how; there weren't a thousand threads or complaints when Danny Garcia fought Rod Salka, there wasn't a thousand threads or complaints when Leo Santa Cruz fought that Montana/Tomato dude whatever the hell his name was. Those were buddy fights but yet you saw minimal mention of it but nowhere near the whining, bitching and moaning the vast majority are doing here.Pureist wrote:How did you get double standards kbb, every floyd fan bagged pacquaio for fighting algieri and wriefully so and many pacquaio fans were against that fight as well but nearly all floyd fans on here are defending floyd for the berto fight with the exception of you, you can't make strawberry jam out of shite, as I've said he should be fighting GGG, all the fans are saying that's unfair,he fought Canelo who is bigger and floyd didn't mind the size difference when he fought JMM and came in 1.2kg heavy, if GGG can make 154 the fight should have been made
Personally I hate that Floyd is trying to line the pockets of his friend while padding his ledger with another O but I do understand it though I wish he had made this fight sooner rather than later. After careful consideration I see why he took this fight now rather than earlier, but that's another thread by itself on this forum so I will keep that to myself.
I won't spin it or justify his selection in any way, shape or form but here are some facts we know about Berto:
Never in a dull fight
Win, lose or draw he always brings it to his opponent
Not exceptionally a good defensive fighter but offensively he is a force and he does throw punches and come forward.
Personally I don't believe this will be a dull fight, I believe Berto will come to try and do the impossible but please keep this following thing in mind:
Strange things has always happened to fighters who got close to Rocky Marciano's record, remember Larry Holmes??
Re: Floyd vs Berto now official
The reason there wasn't thousands of threads is simple, A -isn't that well known B - isn't elite C - doesn't label himself TBE, it's not like there is a shortage of QUALITY fighters who would be willing to fight him, it's the fact he picked such an easy cherry pick, you can call it a buddy fight but that really is an excuse, I really hope this fight does less than 350k PPV because the only people buying this crap is fans like husker, best fight available= GGG, worst fight available = berto
