Yeah I have no interest in paying to watch this fight.I actually don;t even know if I would
watch it live if something else was on tv.
It is one of those fights that has a little interest but you could wait a day or two to watch on You tube.

How anyone can think this is a ppv quality match up is beyond me.

Are you saying that this is being set up as a PPV??????? I've been skipping over any of these articles as i have no interest but if that's true, it won't hit 10k buys. lol. That's f'ng hilarious.

I figure it will sell to only their relatives and a few idiots.
10,000 buys is being generous.

No need to go to such an extreme.

You can instead catch the Mares-Santa Cruz fight the same night on ESPN for free. That will save you some urine and wasted electricity.

Why would one want to save urine?

SeniorPipino does caldo2025's suggestion himself whenever there are Euro heavy cards. I'd guess he's saving it for then.

You'll be disappointed to learn Punchoutsb, that I'm all out of urine.

I donated it freely back in the 70s by tossing it in a cup every week during those legendary Olympic Auditorium rumbles. It was the accepted way back then to show appreciation for a good fight, and alas, there were many at the Olympic.

But I might have had some left, however, if they had ever booked some dull, risk-adverse Euro-weenies as designated ring victims.
Snoozers like that would have caused an early mass exodus of the Olympic faithful. No piss tossing, but perhaps a riot to alleviate the boredom.

Apparently promoter Aileen Eaton was too kind hearted to inflict that kind of punishment on the loyal fans.

Oh if only it were the 70's again so you could have all that piss back.

Instead all you have are memories of that piss, and 14 out of 20 Euro champions from 160 on up.

Sorry bro.

"risk-adverse Euro-weenies" have you seen the recent opponents for Leo Santa Cruz, Andre Ward, Danny Garcia, Peter Quillin , Deontay Wilder? Or do you consider them Europeans?

Well, it's becoming more common for different races to mingle, as well as continents, so it's probably also having a somewhat negative effect on non-European fighters. Must be something in the blood.

But wasn't Ward's recent comeback opponent a Euro-weenie? He came all the way from across the pond to become a lifeless punching bag for the great Ward.

BTW, I do remember the Olympic using a Euro-weenie as an opponent. They let Rodolfo Gonzalez pummel a hopeless Italian named Antonio Puddu for 10 rounds in defense of his lightweight title. Talk about "risk-adverse."

The much-hyped "Poo-Poo" Puddu came in with some glossy record but looked like a complete novice.
After that, I don't recall a single European "fighter" gracing the local scene. Small wonder.

Do you cry every night now that Europeans have so much success? Does the fact that Americans are now seen as the "opponents" in the Olympics fill your sad little bigoted eyes with tears of rage? I kind of feel bad for you. You must be suffering from some severe erectile dysfunction to hate living in the present so much.

Oh well, at least you can still try to beat it when Deontay Wilder fights killers like Eric Molina

An old school LA boxing fan! Haha, yes us boxing fans can be terrible when crowded together.
The Olympic Auditorium was such a staple for So Cal boxing. It was LA's equivalent to the Korakuen Hall or York Hall boxing-wise, but with a much greater capacity. So many great battles were hosted there. I think more pro fights took place there than any other venue historically. It's crazy that it's now a church with a huge mural of Jesus. People died fighting in there while bloodthirsty crowds reveled in the brutality.
I just pulled up his record and a young Shane Mosley fought there twice in 1994.

Cry about the Europeans? Why? I really give them little thought. Like most normal Americans.

And the Olympics. Why would I pay any attention to that pseudo-event any longer?

It was interesting back when the boxing tournaments featured real fights (see the 1976 Olympics for those of you who are uninitiated).
But since the 90s, it's merely been a couple of head-gear toting guys, dully slapping each other before a panel of corrupt judges.

YAWN. The Olympics is obviously more suited nowadays for those risk adverse, European tastes. No wonder they currently put the Olympic boxing matches on some obscure, left-wing cable television station. Who's bothering to watch?

You would do well, punchdrunk---ooop, I mean punchout---to follow the brilliant example of poster chucktaylor, who recognizes the value of our past as epitomized by all those legendary Olympic Auditorium battles.

That was an era when REAL fighters fought REAL blood-and-guts wars---apparently a time not suited for those of you
who revel in the prancing, safety-first antics of those foreign boxers best described as "Euro-Weenies."

If only you could have experienced the glory of Poo-Poo Puddu for yourself, punchedout. You would have been ecstatic in your demented glory.

I quit watching Olympic boxing waaay back when it became obvious that the outcome had little to do with what happened in the ring.

I try not to waste the most precious resource I have - time.

I don't watch amateur boxing to see who the judges give the result to but to see quality boxers and stars of the future, especially Cubans who we don't get to see turn pro.

Sure you give them little thought...sure

Stay mad the Euros are having success and all you can do is sit back and watch through tear filled eyes as you remember the "glory days" when the guys you cheered for actually had some success.

At least you can find some joy in slug fests like Tarver/Cunningham

cant believe this ones PPV in the States, both guys were on the way out 7 years ago but that was still a great fight,im sure i recorded it and managed to find out before i watched it that it was last round KO which was a pain

I cant stand Mayorga,he's one of the worst people in boxing, well apart from the murderers and rapists but his personality is vile,i loved seeing De La Hoya beat him up,hopefully Mosley still has something left to retire Ricardo for good

I like Mayorga, but it was a terrible and forgettable fight. The fights with Forrest, Trinidad and De La Hoya were fun, but RM gave significant size advantages to his opponents against the latter two. He should never have gone beyond Light Middle. At Welter he was a real force.

Did you see his latest stupid stunt? Slapped Mosleys girlfriend on the ass at a public presser. He will get a beating for sure now......hopefully.
