Christ on a bike, Glowacki vs Huck was fecking awesome.

Really? Crikey.

Yeah, I mean Huck still stands upright & swipes crudely like some combination of Boris-Karloff-as-Frankenstein's-Creature & a caricature of 1970s era Soviet amateur boxing & Glowacki is little more than a rock-hard southpaw churner, but it had a back from the brink "how's he gonna get up from that?" knockdown, relentless aggression, swings of fortune, a come from behind spectacular knockout & some real on-your-feet type exchanges.

It also kind of built momentum from "watchable scrap" to "FVCK YEAH!", which though it might not stand up in review lent itself to a high level of tension on first viewing.

Very very few silky skills on display, admittedly, but it was kinda like one of those all-white heavyweight fights from the 1950s or something, just two hard bruisers going at it with little finesse.

Caught me in the right mood, like.

Also, Huck got KTFO'd. I've been waiting for this for many, many years.

This was a cock up, but in Spike TV's defence I'd rather they didn't stop showing boxing altogether.

They aren't perfect. I've complained numerous times at how bad their coverage of Ross Burkinshaw fight was. I actually e-mailed them after that fight asking if they can takes the sport more seriously in future. Their coverage was that bad.

However, they were showing boxing on Freeview on the same night that Sky Sports deemed Brook vs Gavin to be a PPV worthy fight, and have put on quite a lot of boxing on since. And they've even been nice enough to give us an attractive woman to perv up on interviews after the fights.

As monumental a feck up as Saturday night was, Freeview boxing is a good thing.

I'm just glad this was the one show I missed.
