Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
Looks like I am going to. There has been NO boxing lately and I just want to see a night of fights. Plus this is supposedly Floyd's last fight. I believe he will fight on. I honestly think he just wants a break and wants fighters like Khan, Brook, Thurman, Porter to all fight it out and see who comes out on top. I think he will see Floyd again in 12-16 months. It's actually not a bad undercard so I think it will be ok.

You HONESTLY believe this is his last fight - SMH. Really? You're pretty gullible.CrazyHorse wrote:Looks like I am going to. There has been NO boxing lately and I just want to see a night of fights. He will retire after this fight, making a big hoo-haa about it, then we will have endless bollocks about Pacquaio being healed, and ready to get revenge, blah blah blah, and then after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, lo and behold, Floyd is 'persuaded' to come out of retirement for one last fight, which is even less competitive than the first, and he retires on 50-0.
You're going to feel like such a fool.

Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
lol no worries. But yeah I think he will fight on. If I had his type of money I would want a break. Plus I think he will get offered way more money in his next contract. Floyd loves his money. But I wouldn't be too surprised if he does hang er up because he sounded pretty upset that his uncle Roger is having a hard time with his health and said he is one of the reasons why he wants to get out of boxing very soon.jamesmcdonnell wrote:You HONESTLY believe this is his last fight - SMH. I would buy it for $25, at $75 you gotta be high to even consider it.
If I did buy it, I'd probably be looking forward to Jack/Groves more than the main event.

Yeah, saw that interview the other day - however, to be frank, sounds to me like uncle Rog has early onset dementia, probably alzheimers, which is very unlikely to have been caused by boxing, or at least there's no evidence to suggest at the moment that head trauma causes Alzheimers.CrazyHorse wrote:lol no worries. Even so, I think Floyd will definitely be retiring soon rather than take any risks with his health.

Are you serious? Boxing definitely can cause dementia and alzheimers. Those are piss poor articles, far from anything equating to evidence.CrazyHorse wrote:Are you serious? Boxing definitely can cause dementia and alzheimers. There's a big difference between correlation and causation. Neither of those articles are linked to any reputable studies.

So are you a medical professional yourself? I've asked doctors on this before and have told me the same thing. But I guess you must know more than professionalsjamesmcdonnell wrote:

Given that NOBODY currently understands the mechanism which causes Alzheimers (I spent a fair bit of time reading about it, as my mother died from the condition) - any study which says definitely that Alzheimers is caused by punches to the head, if frankly utter bollocks.CrazyHorse wrote:So are you a medical professional yourself? I don't care if you spoke to Doctors about it, the science around Alzheimers is extremely complicated, and even the top neuroscientists in the world are baffled still about the aetiology of the disease, or even if it is a single disease.
So, not, I'm not a medical professional, but I can say with relative surety that nobody has gotten to the bottom of what causes Alzheimers.
There is a condition called 'dementia pugilistica' which is something entirely different to Alzheimers.
Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
That will be an absolute YES! Enjoy him while he's here, I say.
Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
No and I didn't purchase May-Pac either.
Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
If I do, I may consider one of the movie theater venues. Anyone know what they will be charging? No way would I pay what they are asking for home viewing. I'd pay $20 to see it though.
From what I could find it says $15.

Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
Like I said when they made this fight, Hyall to da naw!
This should be free. Not Showtime. Not ESPN.
You should be able to pick this one up on a digital antenna or even an old fashioned set of rabbit ears.
It aint about whether I will plunk down $74.99 for HD.
It's about whether I will spend 7.99 for HW...hot wings.

If it's PPV over here in the UK. I will bypass it.
Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?

Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?

Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?

No this fight just doesn't interest me. It will be another UD win for FMM.
Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
What?
He's charging for this shit?
Wasn't all the talk about giving back to fans and this being on free to air TV?
If you guys pay for this, you're off your fornicating heads!
IF it's PPV in the UK, it'll likely cost £18 and I still wouldn't pay for it if Godzilla was facing King Kong on the undercard.
Surely, if ever boxing fans had to send a message, that they cannot continue to rip you off it's now.

No, but I'll probably catch it at the wing shop or something.
I love boxing, but that doesn't mean I'll agree to be hosed for it.

Re: Will you be purchasing the Mayweather fight?
NO, but that doesn't mean that it won't be watching because it's not going to be entertaining, it's just because I'd rather have seen Floyd face Thurman or some other overrated fighter even at a higher weight.
Personally I think I will miss out on a very entertaining, action filled fight, one that is miles better than his fight vs boring and incapable Manny Pacquiao who wasn't able to do nothing.
Berto will be there to get hit and this will be a high output and mostly offensive fight.
I'll just have to catch the replay.
