Who does more PPV Buys? GGG or Floyd?
Who does more PPV Buys? GGG or Floyd?
Are we about to witness a changing of the guard at the top of Boxing? Will more people choose to spend their money on a surefire action fight between two knockout artists or will fans opt for the historical significance of Floyd's "last fight" even though it's a clear mismatch on paper?

Nope, because 90% of the people who purchase PPV events purchase on name recognition over anything else. Will more people choose to spend their money on a surefire action fight
Fringe fans/suckers for flashy promotion drive PPV sales- not the hardcore fans, of which there are far far fewer, by comparison.
Floyd's fight, even against a little-hoper will at the very least double GGGs numbers, in my opinion.
Cotto Vs The Ginger will threaten the numbers of Floyds next one though. Both of those guys have large hardcore followings, and names that the fringe fans recognize and love.
I personally think The Ginger is going to the top earner in the sport before long.

I'm gonna estimate:
Golovkin/Lemeiux - 350k
Floyd/Berto - 600k
Canelo/Cotto - 750k

Technical Draw
Cotto v GingerHead surpasses them both.

I'd say its a draw too. I would imagine Mayweather has enough fans to pay to see him fight his good buddy Berto. To make somewhat respectable numbers.
If HBO were to advertise the GGG fight and we see some billboards I think they could at least match the Buddy fight perhaps even surpass it.

the average person doesn't really even know who GGG is and they most certainly don't know who Lemieux is, so I'm betting that Floyd outsells GGG more than 2 to 1 and probably even buries him on this PPV fighting a relative unknown.
Oscar used to do decent numbers vs fighters most of the public knew nothing about, Floyd has reached and surpassed DLH's status a long time ago and should do well vs a bunch of nobodies as well.
GGG is just starting with his PPV chase, he will bring action as long as he doesn't potshot the entire bout but he isn't nowhere on the level of Floyd and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath on PPV or boxing accomplishments.
