World Flyweight Title Lineages 1965-1968

WBC Flyweight Title Lineages from 1965 to 1968, is at present, Salvatore Burruni (1965 April 23 - 1966 June 14), Walter McGowan (1966 June 14 - 1966 December 30), Chartchai Chionoi (1966 December 30 - 1969 February 23).

But, The correct lineages was Salvatore Burruni (1965 April 23 - 1965 November 18), vacant (1965 November 18 - 1966 March 1), Horacio Accavallo (1966 March 1 - 1968 October 2), vacant (1968 October 2 - 1968 November 10), Chartchai Chionoi (1968 November 10 - 1969 February 23)

Walter McGowan did not get WBC Title.

(1) Burruni was stripped of not only WBA title, but also WBC title, in November 1965.

In ID 12608 Salvatore Burruni's records, Additional note "Burruni is stripped of the WBA belt in November 1965 for failing to defend against Horacio Accavallo." is in "1965-04-23 Salvatore Burruni UD Pone Kingpetch".
But, Burruni was stripped of not only the WBA, but also the WBC, in November 1965.

The World Boxing Council has withdrawn its recognition of Salvatore Burruni, of Italy, as world flyweight champion and authorised a match between Horacio Accavallo (Argentina) and Ebihara Hiroyuki (Japan) for the title. The council said it acted after Burruni ignored its recommendations and insisted on a title defence against Rocky Gattelari, of Australia."


b. The Times, newspaper of United Kingdom, the 4th page, in the Saturday December 11 1965 issue
"WORLD BOXING TITLE CONTROVERSY
Controversy broke out yesterday after Mr.J.Solomons, the London promoter, had announced that be had matched Walter McGowan (Scotland) and Salvatore Burruni (Italy) for the "world's flyweight championship". Mr.Solomons said the bout would take place at Wembley on March 15.
Shortly after his statement a British Boxing Board of Control official said, "The World Boxing Council, of which we are members, have stripped Burruni of his title for not defending it within the stipulated time against Hiroyuki Ebihara (Japan). It looks as though the forthcoming contest cannot be recognized here as a world title unless the W.B.C. decision is rescinded. We shall consult the W.B.C."(The rest is omitted.)

At that time, Burruni was stripped of not only WBA title, but also WBC title.

(2) Walter McGowan did not get WBC Title.

"Not recognised
Mr L. Spota, the president of the World Boxing Council, said in Mexico City that the WBC did not recognise last night's fight between McGowan and Burruni as the world flyweight championship. The WBC disqualified Burruni as champion last November when he failed to meet its timelimit for giving Hiroyuki Ebihara (Japan) a chance for the title.
Spota said Horacio Accavallo (Argentina) was the only world flyweight champion recognised by the Council, having won the title against Katsuyoshi Takayama (Japan) in a bout ordered by the WBC to choose a new champion."


Horacio Accavallo held the WBC title until he retired on October 2, 1968.
