I've generally found Census information to be the most reliable. It does take the boxing community awhile to catch up with the Census data being released. The data about Sonny Liston just came out, but people are still behind the times with Archie Moore. I also thought he was born in 1883.

Your right about that, it aint the years its the miles. One funny Liston story which was pretty typical of him was one time a reporter pointed out to him that there was some controversy as to how old he was. Liston said to the reporter. "my Momma said I was born in 1932. Are you callin my Momma a f...in liar?

Liston seemed to feel he was born in either 1932 or 1933. However, it sounds as though he may have been unaware that his mother felt he had been born in January.

Why is Langford's true date of birth not more widely known? Census records for Langford should have been available for a while I would think.
