He brought that uppercut from his hips nearly! God knows how Charr never saw it! He was out as soon as the uppercut landed! Briedis actually looked worried when Charr hit the deck.

Pretty, but it did look an arm punch, the moment it lands he pulls it back, rather than follows through. Think that's why he looked so gobsmacked - actually they both did 8)

He didn’t put the club through the ball, so to speak, but it definitely didn’t lack technique. It wouldn’t have landed if there wasn’t any technique there. Any heavyweight moving on to a shot that they don’t see is going to feel it. It lacked the brutal finesses of the ones Lewis landed on Fortune yet the speed of the delivery and the way Charr was moving meant it was always going to be a difficult shot to hold. He's getting cleanly KO'd, so I doubt he'll be able to carry on without getting bajo'd more often than not as he moves on with his career.

nothing wrong with that technique, it might not have had full rotation of the body into it, but it was so fast that Charr had absolutely no idea what hit him, hence the KO. Pretty tasty shot right there.

True - I could also criticize the technique and it definitely looked an arm shot, however it did the job and sparked him out !

I always think that an uppercut is a vicious punch - partly because it is not used very often and is therefore not really expected.

It's a risky shot as if you miss, you're going to be out of position and off balance for quite a long time, leaving a lot of time to counter, and it requires good full body coordination, as you've got to both rotate the hips, whilst also dipping the shoulder and bringing the arm up, all in one movement, to get any power into the shot.

The unlucky Lotte was blasted out in a similar highlight reel manner by the other LH champ, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, poor dude.

Lotte was dangerous though, well-known over here for ambushing Tony Sibson inside a round in the early days. But his two title shots came up against two all-time light heavy greats.
