Not sure King ever got de Mori a decent opponent? Ed Mahone perhaps? Assuming that was King's work? But Mahone had lost 8 of his past 11 at the time and was surely ripe for the picking.KungFuJoe wrote:Can someone explain how Don King actually made $$$ out of fighters he'd sign, only to not put them in the ring?De Mori's definitely not the only guy Don King did this to,I think Kali Meehan had the same sort of issues too...anyone able to shed light on this?

No idea about the Parker offer, but as mentioned in previous media, once Wilder took the belt Mark was down to the final 2 on who Wilder was going to take for his voluntary defence. Sadly Wilder went with Molina.lowlefthand wrote:I heard that after Wilder took the belt off Stiverne, De Mori was offered big money to fight Parker. Not defending DK - he's a piece of slime, just saying now De Mori has missed out on his shot (and he won't get one now), he might get a better payday elsewhere
As I said, no idea on Parker, but if true, pretty sure most would make the same decision as Mark if being told it's you or Molina to fight Wilder next for a much bigger payday than take the Parker offer.

Wilder is a 6ft 7 wrecking machine. de Mori is lucky if he is 6ft 2 and with short arms and wouldn't even match Wilder for speed.

Agree entirely with what you say - but why not take the fight now? Win and you're up there. Also disagree that he would have got "a much bigger payday". Haymon would have screwed him, and by the time DK took his cut, there'd be stuff all left
DK fighter Mayorga says his share of the fight with De la Hoya was $21 million, and Don King said there was nothing left after costs!!

Agree I think Parker is a great option for Mark, disagree that the money offered by Parker was close to what was talked about for Wilder, but anyway.lowlefthand wrote:Agree entirely with what you say - but why not take the fight now? So Mark is on twitter saying he's had a load of offers, but is going to make the best choice for himself. Either take a decent fight, or fight a Euro Crusierweight outside the top 300 - again. Your call Mark

Re: Mark De Mori
Now that de Mori has officially split with Don King and is claiming on twitter he's had a load of offers it is time to put up or shut up. If he continues fighting C and D level opponents without King there to push his cause for an undeservedly high ranking he''ll soon be ranked by nobody.punchoutsb wrote:I've recently interviewed Mark. The interview won't be published for a bit, but he loves boxing. He loves the sport and the challenges. He has been wanting bigger fights, but it just hasn't been happening for him. He also was clear that he wants to earn as much as he can, so he tries to stay active regardless. He's a standup guy, and I feel bad the way his management has been mis-handling him. He's better than a lot of people think. Not a top fighter by any means, but a solid B level heavy. The Raw Prawn wrote:You're right, Molina was a shocker.punchoutsb wrote:
A club fighter with a glass jaw just got the last shot at Wilder. No reason Mark can't get one.
His fights against Wilder and Arreola should be a good lesson to de Mori to abandon any thoughts of moving
higher up the food chain if he values his health.

Will he stay in Europe do you think? I bet Charr is looking for a comeback opponent with a good record...

Biggest purse offer he will ever have. His WBA and WBC rankings are valuable points for team Parker. A very annoyed off the record source called him a "weak pri*k"
Re: Mark De Mori
how much?
if its a legit offer then say what it is.
well he's not obliged to accept remember.
but he's smart to take a different course anyway. parker is all wrong for him.

Re: Mark De Mori
I can understand Parker's hangers on being pissed off de Mori turned them down. He seems determined to take the easiest route to somewhere. But that somewhere is looking more and more like nowhere.
If he doesn't step up this time when he says he has offers to choose from and King no longer in the picture he deserves every bit of criticism he receives.

Re: Mark De Mori
Bogan,
We have all given Mark 2nd/3rd/4th chances to make the step up or fear losing us, I think you have now given Mark his 10th chance.
You know the point of these Mark threads are? We will always talk about him because deep down he is a nice guy, a good all round bloke that does'nt go talking shi t at any opportunity, talks to his fans on Twitter and fakebitch, and just is a professional in the way you prepares for his sport.
It's just that he gets himself into the small regional media outlets that do not quite understand boxing, he and his team do a good job of feeding them the lines and as Mark is a all round good bloke they believe in his rhetoric and publish it. And that annoys the cra p out of all of us on here because we know that Mark is not only fooling these media outlets, but the people who read the cra p, and most importantly himself as I think he believes his cra p.
That is why he has had a 20+ page thread devoted to him in the past, and why this thread will undoubtedly reach double figures aswell.
It is like all of us on the forum and Mark being old school buddies, and the word has come back to us from other school friend that Mark is behaving like a goose. We are all debating upon who is going to take him down the pub to tell him to pull his neck in!

ra2006 you hit the nail on the head - I couldn't agree more with your post.
I believe Marks got a fight coming up in October, I think it might be against Danny Williams.

The 42yr old 388th ranked Danny Williams would be perfect for the bodybuilder with the super padded record.convict wrote:ra2006 you hit the nail on the head - I couldn't agree more with your post.

Sounds like he's fighting for the (vacant) WBC Eurasia belt, so it should be someone from the region? Maybe Fujimoto?
If i was going to cherry-pick a guy for his rankings, Fujimoto would be it
If he gets someone at an even lower level from the region to contest the belt - i won't be surprised

I first read De Mori was fighting for it here,

Re: Mark De Mori
You're right Mosen.
Team Parker talked to WBC Eurasia's Alan Kim, and got the belt fight ahead of De Mori who also wanted it.
They were originally going to fight for it in December but moved it forward when they found out Mark wanted it
