Walrers vs Gamboa

Post by digzee »

Just noticed this fight could be happening at the end of the year at 130lbs, Gamboa was never a LW and Walters has outgrown 126 so it makes sense to me.

Not sure who I would favour but if Gamboa boxes smart I think he can win, but saying that Waters is huge and wouldn't be surprised if he stopped Gamboa.

I got Gamboa winning by KO, Walters has been beating up on smaller opponents.. Gamboa will take Walters out.

Gamboa could outbox Walters but if Walters lands a bomb it'll be over.
I'm not sure Gamboa can avoid Walters for a full 12 rounds.
Good fight though, hope it gets made.

You guys are crazy. Walters would absolutely demolish Gamboa. Gamboa seems to get knocked down in every other fight he's in these days and he's never seen punching power like Walters. Gamboa may win a round or two but his defense is swiss cheese and its a matter of time before Walters finds that hole that TC found.

Quick fight, all Walters.

Walters was badly hurt by Donaire and has feasted on smaller guys, he's never faced a world class boxer his own size. Gamboa can win "more then a round or two" as he took a couple off TC who is on another planet to Walters.

This fight has 2 outcomes for me, either Gamboa on points or Walters K.O.

Hopefully this fight gets ink.

It also has only two likely outcomes for me too; ktfo either way.

While Gamboa was imitating a weeble wobble he managed to seriously hurt Crawford, a bigger, better version of Walters in every way.

I think both fighters bite canvass before the end and today I lean towards Gamboa stopping Walters by the 10th.

x2, gamboa seems a confidence fighter, stick it on him and he will fold :box:

 When has Gamboa EVER folded? He only has one loss. In that loss he in no way "folded."

no he didn't fold as such but I bet that defeat has sapped a lot of confidence from him and a guy like gamboa needs that confidence to succeed imo.

There is no shame in losing to Crawford he's an elite P4P star, losing to average fighters could demoralise you but not the best fighter in a division you don't belong in.

don't matter who beat him hes still been beat, and for a bullying type fighter like gamboa that could leave serious cracks in his confidence but we shall see.

I also disagree with your characterization of Gamboa as "a bullying type fighter." He is more mongoose than bull. Walters is far better described as bullying.

i have to ask, who is doing gamboa's promoting these days. A fight against terrence crawford where he gets knocked out, and them he turns right around and walks into a fight at 130 against arguably the hardest puncher at 126 who will arguably be a welterweight on fight night. Tough back to back fights.

Having said that, lets not forget that yuri has power and speed like walters has never seen. If he can manage to not get caught it should be a fight.

I would favor Walters slightly, but pretty even fight. Walters has a great body attack, but other than that don't see great advantages for either guy.

Anyone remember a couple of years ago, Fiddy thought Gamboa would or could beat Floyd. Floyd ducked him, I guess. :OhYes:

There are no cobras in Jamaica, only snakes, and everyone knows that the mongoose almost always wins the battle with a cobra. :DDD

From what I have read, Gamboa is sticking with Fiddy even though he is going through bankruptcy. He claims he will stay loyal to him.

That's mighty admirable in this cutthroat business but could be construed by some as naive.

How on earth can that man be broke and bankrupt? What has he blown all those millions on?

I believe one (maybe more) of his companies are going through bankruptcy. I doubt very much that he is anywhere in the vicinity of broke.

Thanks, Tanzio :TU: I thought he'd got millions by being involved in soft drinks or water marketing as well as the music.

Gamboa is absolute garbage, this is a mismatch. Walters early.
